Health issues generally kick in around your mid forties and progress from there. There are some mighty old spinsters that are in good shape. Luck, genetics and bit of hard work I suppose.

Funny you should say that, my dad is 83 just had a stroke, cannot walk properly, cannot drive anymore, does not make too much conversation YET he wants to live till her is 100!!!! go figure

I always say the same thing, once my quality of life is gone I want to check out. Not that I'm going to off myself or anything but to sit around and have to rely on others for even the simplest things sounds like torture.

I have no problem for caring for people, I took care of my mom. She was very sick and wanted to live until her dying breath even though she couldn't enjoy anything other then watch television.

I am in pretty good shape for my age, the regular aches and pains and I need surgery on my arm but otherwise pretty healthy.

I'm 62 and ready to go.. Where??? I forgot.

thats why i work out every day and plan to as i go into old age but if it gets to the point where i physically can't take care of myself, im tapping out

people like joe rogan and sly stallone are good examples of people who continue to work out and look great for their age, joe rogan is 45 and in better shape then 99 percent of 20 year olds

It's great to work out and I still do every day. But if you want to look like Sly or Arnold and can afford the drugs, you also better have enough saved for a new pancreas and heart valve.

I AM 84+ and IF you eat properly, take vitamins, stay AWAY from junk foods and sick people ( mentally and physically ) it's ONLY the aches/ pains that bother you, day and night ! Course, there IS aspirin, but it IS a deadly poison, if taken in large doses.

What one DOES with old age is MORE important that what physical limitations you have. I concentrate on all the things I can do for my children and grandchildren that they are NOT doing to prepare to stay ALIVE in the coming days, Plus other 'sudden' emergencies i can afford, lol !

I always am amazed at the synchronicity of things that I see. I was in Walmart earlier today and I saw three different very old women sitting in motorized cart looking dazed. They weren't shopping, just sitting there staring into space. It was as if a family member parked them like a bike and went on with their shopping. It was humorous and disturbing at the same time. Then I come home and read this.

OP, others .... You have to get involved with LIFE and sex. Never stop chasing women, lol !

Divorced from my first wife at 43. But also into my 3rd career. Went into tennis in a BIG way. Got very good at it, if I do say so, and played14 COMPLETE SETS in one day, in my FIFTIES ! Won the last one at 12:45 AM, coming from 4-0 to beat them 6-4. It takes MIND SET, mainly and good health habits. My saying is STILL the same ... Your as OLD as you can DO !

Divorced from my third wife 2 years ago. Be sure they are 10-12 years younger than you, and that in itself WILL 'keep you young/hopping'.

They invite young people to sing to old people (dementia style) and I wonder what kind of sick freak thought of this idea.

The old sit there drooling at the youth and the young stand there terrified of the monsters in front of them with no real understanding of what these people before them are exactly.

Keep on working out OP. Jack Lalanne did and he had a good life. He got slow, but he didn't have to rely on anyone to wipe (you know the rest). :-)

Hit 40 and the spring in my joints suddenly vanished along with my reflexes. At least my mind is still like a 14 year old. I'm not letting that get old.

You definitely hit the nail on the head! The mind it seems for many of us is still young. I'm a bit older and I can tell ya, after working out for over 20 years, I killed my joints.

The only way to keep from deteriorating is to keep at it, so my doctor keeps drilling in my head.

Poker Face .... ' NONE of the above' . Former science teacher who knows foods, vitamins and that experiments conducted in the 1960s SHOWED that IF sexual reproduction was STILL possible in an ANNUAL PLANT; it did NOT die, but tried to bloom/reproduce year after year. Transferred the idea to humans; nothing to lose, and it's WORKING !
