Be careful what you say about Jewish people. Also important to note that there are God's chosen, and then there are those who call themselves Jews but are really of the synagogue of Satan. Knowledge of Good and evil was disobedience to the Word of God. Plain and simple.

The fruit could have been anything. The point is that God told us not to do it, because He knows what is best for us, and wants what is best for us. It fulfills the necessary requirement of freewill, a prerequisite for love, and love is necessary for Paradise. Christ taught us if we love Him we will follow His commands. We didn't trust God as if He doesn't know what's best for us, or doesn't want whats best for us (oh ye of little faith), and Satan appealed to our lack of faith, our curiosity, and our pride (as if we can be like God, yet deny Him.)
