My Daughters Were Traumatised Seeing AR-15s On Display at Walmart This Evening

Earlier tonight while at Wally World we swung by sporting goods so I could pick up some fishing supplies. Daughter no.1 first noticed it, an AR-15 (not sure if it was a Bushmaster) on display in the gun case behind the counter.

Daughter number 2 is a bit older and more aware, and she was very upset at seeing it there. She asked "daddy, is that the gun that was used to kill all those kids in the school?" -- and I had to answer that yes dear, that's the gun that was used to kill those kids.

I will be writing a letter to Walmart asking them to at least consider not selling AR-15s anymore, or at least keep them where young children cannot see them. Daughter no. 2 is still very upset ...

I have to say that I think this is a bit ridiculous. If someone used a knife to stab someone, and they carried knives...would you ask them to stop selling them. If someone had been killed with a baseball bat, would you ask them to stop carrying baseball bats? You can't expect them to stop carrying that make of gun because it was used by some nut job to kill someone. They will learn to deal with it. And please don't tell me that I am being insensitive to what just happened, because I feel sick about it. It was a sick person who killed them, the gun didn't walk in there and do it.

I read on another forum that Dick's Sporting Goods have stopped selling AR-15s as of today -- I'm confident that Walmart will soon stop selling them soon also!

I've read here and other places that AR-15s are no long available at walmart.com. :) Hopefully these weapons will soon be pulled from the stores too.
