| Biochemky User ID: 919411 12/15/2012 08:35 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | wow. eavesdropping on magmatards count me in On a serious note, the earthquakes the OP is referring to consisted of a series of FIVE earthquakes off the California coast that were each magnitude 6.0 or above. We should ALL be worried. We have had other indications (not just overheard conversations) that magma is on the move. For instance, harmonic resonance signatures on some seismic events in Yellowstone. |
| Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 21416502 12/15/2012 08:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ya. Really. Salton Sea for one is very close and there has been some unusual shit going on there. Close enough that if shit was to happen would you want to be anywhere near and it is near enough. Fault lines and the Baja and the New Violent Volcano's they just found off the coast. Do you really think a couple hundred miles is a good buffer..........????????????? Hello. |

It was even on CNN that these Earthquakes were unusall because they happened in the Bedrock and not on a fault line. If some guy from the USGS is heading home out of the area back to winter in Montana cause he himself is worried then I can understand why others should worry too. For my Brother InLaw to turn tuck tail and come home also is enough convincing for me that somthing is underfoot. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 29507391 12/15/2012 08:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks for the info, OP! Sadly, overheard conversations is the only way we are going to get any news in this country. We can't rely on our media, our elected officials and those in the know to tell us publically. We just have to keep our ears to the ground in coffee shops until it is obvious for us to see with our own eyes...unfortunately for some, that may be too late so give me an overheard conversation ANY DAY!! |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 19099851 12/15/2012 09:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yet more completely baseless fear mongering. Op I am going to bump this thread when nothing happens on December 21. Anyone dumb enough to cancel their travel plans for 2012 BS needs to be removed from the gene pool. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29507391 Not only did they listen in but he did ask the guy Questions if you look at the quote's. The retired USGS Guy did also say that what they are seeing is different. Unusual. He could not get specific because they at the USGS don't know why or what also. Hard to tell or say anything without all the facts right. Can't go public without being able to answer questions and provide answers is what the guy said to my Brother InLaw. He did not need the guy to elaborate. Just the fact the guy and wife were going home was enough for him. I think it would be enough for me also considering what the guy did for a living. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19099851 You obviously don't comprehend what you read at all. Never was 21st mentioned. Shit could happen a month fron now. The fact is that this cannot be predicted by anyone including the USGS or the guy my brother inlaw talked too. Obviously the concern was enough that they are heading home and coming home. Think what you want. Post it later I don't give a shit. Just Sharing. |

Goggle earth will show that there is very little obstruction to a 50' wall of water channeled up the gulf and sweeping inland. The quake that struck offshore was in the basaltic crust of the pacific plate, this has never been seen before. Earthquakes usually occur within the strike slip zone or the thrust zone between plates... This was well outside the normal areas for quakes. The quake itself shows the the pacific is moving, the northern plate is moving and together wil result is future quakes from Long beach to Santa Barbara which are both due for an anniversary quake. I made it quite clear the guy is not a janitor. Was quite learned and was retired and wintering in yuma with the wife. Was overheard and then asked questions by my brother inlaw. Believe or don't believe. Your obviously here to run this aground. Whatever. You said you peice now move on. We get it that you don't believe any of it. Your choice. |

Tsunamis pretty much can't hit California from its own earthquakes, all major quakes in California are strike slip. 2. Baja is sliding past California, if you watch this video, pay attention to the los Angeles area for the last known 10,000,000 years of formation. 3. Watch how Baja ca, is formed in the last 10Mya. 4. The buldge forming the San Gabriel's shows were the strain is, all movement is forced to the west at the Santa Barbara fault, as well as the Long Beach area, then to the San Andreas and Garlock Fault. Quoting: Redpaw360 1. ... 2. ... 3. ... 4. ... [link to www.youtube.com] I'll try to check it out later, Thank You for posting. That series of quakes is still bugging me. Do you know if it occured AT a new undersea volcano? IF it didn't & IF this isn't some previously unknown fault line it tells my novice mind that there is a MASSIVE ammount of pressure built up on the San Andreas & that a weak spot gave way. *A* quake that size is NOT insignificant, let alone 2(4-5 by some estimates) happening, not exactly mid tectonic plate but not on a known fault line either. |
