Re: Brother In Law at Having Breakfast in Yuma Overhears The Following Conversation. USGS BOOM!
I swear you must go to school to do what you do. You clearly have not been to all the upscale restaurants!

OP, this really is a good thread. I have been able to stay with it and get some interesting and truthful information. Moving through the above muck hasn't been too bad.
 Quoting: gatzster

Oh look, another retard who has never gone to a proper restaurant.

Let me put it this way -
A restaurant of any kind does not serve breakfast... diners serve breakfast. If you find a "restaurant" that serves breakfast its name is most likely Denny's. I'm sure that is what you consider an upscale dining experience.
"Upscale" restaurants may not even have a lunch menu. The most exclusive do not. They serve Tues - Sat evenings only.

Upon entering a restaurant, if you see booths against the wall you can be sure you are not in an "upscale" restaurant... you are in a cafe or bistro or burger joint.
"Marty's Beer and Burgers featuring the burger that was voted the best in Hogwaller" isn't a restaurant no matter what they call themselves.

But you go right ahead and delude yourself and puff your chest out as you escort your date into the magical experience of that famous 5 star, "upscale" restaurant - Applebee's.

 Quoting: Reality420 24847476

this is classic strawman or red herring argument. The topic is not about restaurants. It is about the alleged overhead conversation.

Sorry, OP, your story is interesting (and may even be true) but trying to pass yourself off as a 40-something, female, engineering grad doesn't work. Your detractor (the one pointing out the flaws with your spelling, grammar, and the restaurant part of the story) nailed you, buddy.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30098107

If you find it hard to believe that 20 some odd years ago I took enginneering to bad for you. I am now quite happy retired up on my mountain playing rancher away from it all living the life I always wanted too.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17203853

Since you can't even spell "enginneering" I think it isn't much of a stretch that you are lying.

The part about the restaurant was just to convey that neither MR USGS or my Brother Inlaw were some redneck slobs sitting drinking beer and telling tall tales.
 Quoting: Crazy Canuck Troll

No kidding.
You've presented the old GLP chestnut of - 'A relative of mine heard from an anonymous expert that doom is on the way.'
Complete with spelling/grammar/useage indicating you have the education of a 7 year old.
Random useage of foul language enhances the credibility of the story.
Without any evidence we are supposed to believe your fantasy story and that the relative and expert exist and aren't just your delusion/troll.
Keeping with the playbook, you try to bolster these fantasy character's existence by filling out the story with some embellishing bs details.
The details are ridiculous and merely add to the evidence that you are a 16 year old Canadian troll.

The fact remains that California just had a series of Earthquakes that were found to be quite disturbing to both the USGS and MR Retired USGS so much so he went home also. As also reported on CNN NEWS.
 Quoting: Crazy Canuck Troll

You keep referencing the USGS fantasyman who was - "having a conversation about the Earthquakes that just happened of the California Coast."
What earthquakes?
I've seen a few posts on this thread about some fantasy of numerous mag 6 EQs off of California...
Can you produce evidence of any substantial California EQs beside the one mag 6.3 on December 14, 2012?
I think even the EQ portion of this story is made-up fantasy from the mind of a disturbed 16 year old from Canada.

Let's see if you've made any earlier posts, shall we?
Your OP user ID was: 21416502 from Canada.

- Childish illiteracy. Check.

- Random capitalization and foul language. Check.

[link to www.godlikeproductions.com]
- Irrational ranting about the sun. Check.
(I particularly liked the part about the sun - "blasting us with photons". From an "enginneer" no less.)

[link to www.godlikeproductions.com]
- Irrational ranting about the sun #2. Check.
(I liked this phrase - "I think all the information being used to calabrate, osculate, fix mix and hook up to for measurments is being fornacated on by the powers that be.")

[link to www.godlikeproductions.com]
- Irrational ranting about the sun #3. Check.
(This one is so deranged that I can't resist quoting it here:
"Ok Buddy. I like how you PICK YOUR SHIT BUT YOUR NOT PICKING MINE. Transits ya, eclipses ya, Some stuff you can't change cause its there. BUT when it comes to mathematical calculations pick your own nose and shove it up your ass.")
<sarcasm>Yep, that's the measured response of a serious person and not the crayon scrawling of a 16 year old foul mouthed, illiterate troll.</sarcasm>

etc., etc.

Yeah, you're a 40 something female "enginneer" retired on a mountaintop and not the mentally disturbed 16 year old troll your scribblings make you out to be.

I believe that.

R.
kOOks lie. Constantly. It's part of the job description.
 Quoting: Reality420 24847476

All of these argument against the OP are nothing but ad hominem approaches. Her spelling, grammar, irrationality toward celestial objects, all do not deter from her conclusion following the premises.

Boy this got shilled hard didn't it. Whats wrong with noticing things aren't normal with the sun. Everybody is noticing these things. Whats wrong with being a prepper and being worried shtf everybody else around here is. What the shills are saying is wrong must be wrong with everybody in this place cause were all thinking the same thing. That means they are against us also and must think were nuts all the same.

There were 5 Earthquakes off the coast on the 14th. 2 that WERE 6.2 AND 6.1 that occured in the rock that were abnormal and it was on CNN that they were concerned and watching for the next 48hrs. Thats not bullshit.

There were another 3 on land. It was posted on RSOE EDIS. Its there if you go look.

This is just too close to the truth for the USGS is all and these guys really pulled out the all the stops to discredit this. They quoted part of sentences and not all of them and took everything out of context to warp all this.

Thats how shills work but I have never seen them go all out like this before. This struck to close to home and the truth as far as I am concerned. Its the shills that are distorting the facts.

I think somebody should really start taking a hard look at what is going on in Hawaii with the Volcano for sure.

The quakes in California were way not normal also. Somthing is up for sure.

Hey OP, I remember a post by you not long ago where you said your father worked in the oil industry for many years and was disturbed by the events around the Louisiana sinkhole, and that he had told your family members not to go south for the winter. They went anyway?

What does your dad think of this latest?

Yet more completely baseless fear mongering. Op I am going to bump this thread when nothing happens on December 21. Anyone dumb enough to cancel their travel plans for 2012 BS needs to be removed from the gene pool.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19099851

The OP didn't say anything about 12-21, although he hinted at his wife being worried about such nonsense. He merely related a conversation overhead by someone he knows.

I can easily imagine various researchers and scientists being baffled and concerned about certain phenomenon happening on any day of the year. Look at all the doomtards in science who think carbon dioxide -- or what we breathe out every few seconds -- is polluting the planet and triggering global warming---and would like all of us to pay through the ass to change that.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29759427

My Brother Inlaw hinted to Mr USGS that me and my sister were doomtards and preppers. Mr USGS said we had good reason to be that way and it wasn't a bad thing and that we were probally on the right track as he headed out the door saying him and the Wife were leaving the Area on the Monday and going home.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19738203

That would be enough for me! Problem is....alot
of folks are strapped for cash this year and
once THEY MAKE THE DECISION TO TRAVEL SOUTH...
THEY OFTEN DON'T HAVE ENOUGH CASH TO LEAVE QUICKLY.
Alot of them are depending on monthly SSI and
Pension checks (so you see the line of folks
waiting at the post office around the building
and down the street!) lol!
These folks wouldn't have the travel funds
available to make a sudden decision to return
home even if they had to....SO...THE DECISION
TO TRAVEL NEEDS TO BE DONE CAREFULLY! It
would be a good idea to delay plans to leave,
save up the dough for a couple of checks,
then go--that way you've got the emergency
cash to stay and leave as you wish.
Just sayin'
Cheers!
SK

By the way....have you EVER seen this many
quakes on the map at one time? The up-tick
in quakes has been steady over the past
several days since 12-12-12. Look!!

HEY! CHECK THIS OUT TODAY'S GLP THREAD:
[link to www.godlikeproductions.com]
I made up a "hypothetical" conversation between
the USGS retiree and his friends....and the poor
fellow who overhears their conversation in the
Denny's in Yuma. You might want to check it out!
If I heard there was an explosive VOLCANO about to
erupt off the tip of Baja....I would be running
to my RV and pulling out of YUMA THAT DAY!

THIS HAS GOT TO BE WHAT HE OVERHEARD!!

Here is my "dramatization" (fictional) of the
conversation overheard by the retiree mentioned
in this thread! Thought it might make the
impact a little more tangible?

HERE IS A HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION FOR YO'ALL:
Now, think about this....If you are a retiree, with your
brand new 27 foot travel trailer having just pulled into
Yuma RV park....and you are having a leisurely breakfast
at a coffee shop and hear THE FOLLOWING conversation by a
RETIRED USGS EMPLOYEE/GEOLOGIST:
[DISCLAIMER: This is just a fictionalized conversation
I am proposing and did NOT happen....It is a
dramatic representation of someone who has had an
EXTREME and uncharacteristic reaction to something
he has overheard! I repeat: THIS IS A FICTIONAL
DRAMATIZATION!]
CONVERSATION AT A DENNY'S CAFE IN YUMA, AZ
by Silentlyknowing
Retiree USGS: "Yeah, me and the wife here are going to be heading back to Montana tonight. We aren't even going to
cash in our Casino package--we are just going home!"
Friend: "Why are you doing that? You guys JUST GOT HERE!
Retiree: "I had a call from one of my USGS office lab
guys....you aren't going to BELIEVE THIS ONE...."
Friend: "Yeah...you GOT MY ATTENTION--what'd he say?"
Retiree: "They've found a goddammed VOLCANO off the
tip of Baha, guy!"
Friend: What the F---?
Retiree: Yeah...and it may also be a new hotspot...like
they've got over there in Hawaii!
Friend" So....WHAT THE F--- does that mean?
Retiree: Well...it means that the quakes and sinkholes
they've been having around here and Baja aren't just
part of the San Andreas...This is a whole different
DEAL! If it erupts explosively...it will send ash
AND A TSUNAMI right up the Sultan SEA....They'd be
in big trouble here in Yuma...and anywhere close by!
(Couple at the next table begins to cough....an older
gentleman spits out his piece of ham into his napkin
and drinks water.)
Friend: So....do they think this thing is going to BLOW?
Retiree: Yeah....yeah, they do...they even evacuated
some people up north of it who were in some kind of
big CLIMATE conference--and a town, too, back in March!!
UNIDENTIFIED GLP CAMPER: "Hey....What'd you say...
A F---KING VOLCANO? Only a hundred or so miles from here?
Retiree: Yeah....I'm retired from the USGS and that is
what the "skinny" over there is right now!
UNIDENTIFED GLP CAMPER: "Geezus!~ That's insane!
Friend: Geezus.....I guess I won't be staying the season
either! Catch you up north Buddy! AND....GODDANG,
THANKS FOR THE "HEADS-UP!!" (He gulps his coffee down)
(The two put on their coats and hurry out of the Cafe.)
(THIS PART IS NOT FICTION:
The camper overhearing the conversation doesn't even
finish his breakfast...and leaves the cafe without
an explanation to his party!...Goes to his camper
and proceeds to call his wife canceling his trip.)

THAT'S WHAT I THINK WOULD MAKE SOMEONE LEAVE YUMA,AZ
SUDDENLY and even so quickly, they leave their
new camper behind!
Boy...Hope this is all wrong, but better keep a
watch on that area and this volcano crap!
