R.I. Teacher Says"I Quit!" (Respect for this teacher!)

My cousin in Minnesota, a third grade teacher for more than 30 years, also quit because "they won't let teachers teach anymore."

I am Australian high school maths and science teacher.

until the system broke my heart just like the teacher above.

It's not about real learning any more.

Its about control and making robots that are easier to control.

Makes me so sad. I broke down and left into tears, so sickened that I saw so much going wrong in the system, and no other teacher around me could see that something was up.

SO I QUIT!

Hard to believe,

yet so EASY to believe - Race to the Flop has killed a lot.
Other programs too.

Not every one is a go along to get along guy.

This man had courage.

Integrity.
TRUE teachers were born to teach.

Yeah, this teacher seems sincere and 1 in a million.

...and those TRUE teachers end up at Charter or Private schools.

We took our son out of public school and I gave up my career in fire-EMS to stay home and put my chemistry degree to good use teaching our lad.

Why? Because the teachers like this man are all being run away! My son's fourth grade teacher was the diametric opposite of this man. He was a snide loser that couldn't get a job doing anything else. He went to teaching after failing to get into optometry school.

This asshole would not let my son read 'Harry Potter'. At first he said it was because 'no nine year old can read at that level'. Later it came out that he wold not allow a 'book with demonic forces' into his class. Of course, I know some of the psychotic religo-tards here will think that's great.

It's just frightening what kids learn in school these days. It's indoctrination and consumerism and little else.

it's sad that homeschooling or getting a private teacher at home is prolly the better option at this time..again the poor and poverty kids get to go to public school and then they wonder why they end up the way they do

unfortunately this is what the government's "no child left behind program" wants.
when schools fall far enough behind on "test" scores ( even at grade 1)
they can remove hired teachers and install their own government teachers to replace them. every year schools a s a whole must improve test scores by a certain percentage.... seeming that within 20 years of the original implementation 1st graders must score as 6th graders. this is a system set up to fail and at this point is creating so much stress in classrooms.

He's headed to the gulag for sure.

I just retired. This man is correct.

The new Administrators (WAY TO MANY OF THEM) are out of touch, over paid and justify their positions with "new" stuff to push on to the teachers who are already bogged down with last years stuff.

The curriculum is a joke. Boring, useless, pedantic fluff.

BTW...I remember every detail of every field trip I ever took...How about you?
