Yup, I had to "manage" my mom's page after she passed in May. Not that it was a task that needed being done, but she was flooded with friend requests and subsequent postings to the thing for weeks after.

Granted, she spent a lot of time on there but still the point you made is quite accurate. People like to make their mark upon someone's passing for some reason.

I can tell you, that on Wordpress ,when you create a page the url takes the title of the page + numbers has references for other pages on your blog, but you can edit the url after the creation of the page to match the title in case you decide to change the orginal title.

i'm not sure about FB, but it could be the same as above !

The sub-path does not matter. It will change to whatever the admin set the title of the page to and that can be changed at any time.

The FB page was originally an empty community page and someone decided to use it for a memorial.

If this is true and the page was created and maintained by Facebook then they made it for her. Facebook's stock depends on new informational pages to be created daily in order to up the numbers of page views. To have created a page and not used it is fine by them. There are plenty of unused pages that nobody probably even laid eyes on. To use an old page means that a new was not created thereby not gaining a new following. AND IN SPITE of that a NEW community page was created anyway. Do you see my point? The more memorials the better for FB and the more current the page the better chance it has of being viewed, thereby creating hope in investors and more revenue. I don't think FB would have re-sued an old page as it would not add to the numbers.

On another note where is the anger of her parents, relatives, and friends in this matter at the fact this page says she was dead sooner then she was? Why aren't they screaming "take it down!"?

It would, when my son changed his name on facebook, at first it said int he timeline just that, Changed name to ...... Now it does not anymore, it was only there for a few months then seemed to disappear from the timeline. THis was about a year ago, they could have new policies by now. But thought I'd post this as input of personal experience with name change. Also, he had to APPLY to change the name and WAIT for them to review and approve and then make the change, took about 3 weeks for it to happen.
