2012: The True Mayan Prophesy (10/12 PBS documentary)

I watched this documentary on PBS last night. You can watch it online at the url below for a 2 dollar paypal donation, but I couldn't find a free copy of the full length video on the PBS website.

The Mayan Nobel Peace Prize winner, Rigoberto Menchu Tum, had a lot to say about how most people were totally getting the 2012 Mayan calendar issue wrong and that it was kind of ticking the Mayans off.

As for all the 2012 doom stuff - in a nutshell, she said the transition period of Time/UnTime between the ending of the old cycle and the beginning of the new cycle actually started in 1992 and will last for 40 years, so we're only half way there. She did say that this period would be full of the pain of conflict & natural disasters, just like childbirth is painful.

Soooo, don't spend down all the retirement fund next week partying like it's gonna be the end of the world....


Oh, and for all you GLP misogynists: she said while the current cycle has a predominantly male aspect (hence all the war & violence in its history), in the next cycle, all people would become a mixing or merging of both the feminine & masculine aspects so that all the conflict due to the two being separate would end. Bet ya just can't wait for that to happen - go ahead, start wearing those meggings now so you have time to get used to it :)
