Thanks for this, yes I understand the principle and philosophy behind your beliefs in owning guns as your rights, so do you just keep them locked away? Are they just there "in case" or is it part of the american culture eg. to practice your shot at a firing range or go hunting, that is what I'm trying to ask, or are they purely your security policy to protect your civil liberties?

I know this sounds dumb or whatever but instead of asking people here in the UK i think an american perspective is better!

Target shooting is an enjoyable relaxing past time for me.

I trap for meat and fur, I use my guns to dispatch animals that are caught.

I hunt to put meat on my table and in my freezer. free rang hogs, deer and other animals are not full of antibiotics, prions and medications (your mad cow syndrome comes from exactly that).

I carry a firearm daily everywhere I go. I have stopped 2 sexual assaults and one home invasion robbery with my firearms.

There are some evil people out there.. you know this.

Above and beyond ALL of that is the fact that it is an inherent right of mine to secure my safety against criminals and a tyrannical government.. constitutionally protected even.

I'm all pro rights for you US guys, If you want to have a gun well go ahead, maybe its a cultural thing but I dont understand, how often do you guys use your guns? Is it like a hunting thing, do you like to use them for sport? Do you go to firing ranges etc for your leisure time? Is it like clay pigeon shooting but with a real rifle? I don't quite get it.
