So... the aurora shootings before the batman movie, IN the batman movie we have a reference to a clue to a future event?
If this isn't just a coincidence, why put it in there? what is the purpose? To throw it into peoples minds?

They don't have to be particularly clear, but they must be there. Yes probably some sort of masonic serve of "notice" that they figure removes them of guilt. They figure if people still consider hollywood to be entertainment, and not the psychological weapon that it really is, then it is the people's own fault for sleepwalking and not being aware of reality. Giving "public notice" before an action is a maxim of law. Their twisted logic is that by doing this, they are not breaking the law when the action it carried out.
