On lock down you can't even pick up your student. This is one of the many reasons I pulled my kids from public school and started homeschooling. Quoting: Playto19  I believe it was a "precautionary" lock-down and it was a bit of a hassle but I picked my kids up within an hour after the shooting in CT. I did find it rather disturbing that they were doing this HALFWAY across the country... Ok I didn't realize there was a difference, I have friends whose children go to public school, they found a bomb in a house within a block of their school and they were informed that they were on lock down and told his kids couldn't be picked up. If it would have been me the sheriff would have to come pick me up because I would have tried to grab my kids and been gone. BTW the bomb was big enough to take out the whole block. I think they are wise to consider that date.. not that I personally believe anything will happen but the schools are bound to be overly vigilant now. This was put in place right after 9/11. But as to the original post, it would seem that the message of fear has been propagated far and wide. People are closing up their hearts in a time when they should be opening them: to God, to each other. Isolation is now the norm. We desperately need to re-think something things -- some deep things -- as soon as possible. We become like that to which we are devoted. - Choose wisely. |
