I don't think Obama should have done anything more than released a statement on the Sandy Hook massacre, but he is using it as a trampoline to jump into taking our guns, probably pretty quickly, so he had to go for full emotional control of the people.

I don't really think the focus should be on mixing religion and politics, Christianity is at the heart of our founding and the Constitution guarantees our right to exercise that right anywhere, contrary to "separation of church and state" enthusiasts who are dumb to understand the concept.
