By the way, citizens aren't even ALLOWED to own "assault rifles", because assault rifles (by definition) are FULLY automatic.

The only citizens who can own one, have to get a special license to do so. And there's never been a case where someone with this license has shot up a school, or committed ANY mass shooting.

The real failure in this situation was the gun owner failing in securing her weapons. Each gun should have had a trigger lock and been in a gun safe. The ammo should have been in a different safe.

A well maintained militia is for fighting the Federal government. Your states militia is the National Guard and the State police force. It is not a douche like you.

I disagree with getting rid of assault weapons.

If there were to be a police state, the only people who would have assault weapons will be the people herding you around. Kind of hard to fight back with a shot gun against an AR-15.

Also, if we were to be invaded by another country at this very moment, most of our military is overseas. Our militias are going to need assault weapons to deal with the invasion.

When the second amendment was written,the top tech was a single shot muzzle loader. The founding fathers never anticipated rifles that could carry a 15,30,50,100 round clip.

They would be the first to modify the amendment in today's armament capabilities.
