Do you really think that when the genie was let loose it stayed in its own corner? I'd be surprised if it is still possible to find non GM crops anywhere! I don't for one second believe that proposition didn't truly pass in California - I believe that vote was rigged from the beginning. |

I don't for one second believe that proposition didn't truly pass in California - I believe that vote was rigged from the beginning. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23200542 "Unfortunately, the California Secretary of State has suddenly and inexplicably shut down public access to actual vote results." "From December 4 to December 5, the vote total for ‘Yes’ on Prop 37 actually went down somehow." "the vote totals somehow went down at the exact same time the state of California announced it would be taking the previously public vote tabulations behind closed doors. " [link to www.fooddemocracynow.org] Anyone still believe that the vote on Prop 37 was accurately counted or truly reflects the voice of the people? |

Do you really think that when the genie was let loose it stayed in its own corner? I'd be surprised if it is still possible to find non GM affected crops anywhere! We never, ever had GMO crops. Peru doesn't have plains in which to grow wheat or corn, we import most of the wheat and corn we eat or feed the animals. So yes, most of our chicken is grown on GMO corn, but that's about it. The country's agriculture is on the hands of small communities, because of a massive land confiscation in the 70's and terrorism afterwards. The cultural chasm between Monsanto and the farmer is just too deep. On the other hand Peru's hundred microclimates deliver al kinds of fruits and vegetables all year long, and the poor farmers aren't that poor any more. There is great demand for about every product from Europe and recently China. And this is not breaking news!!! The ban was approved in July. Next step: Labeling of processed products that contain GMOs |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 30287813 12/28/2012 02:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's awesome! These central and south american countries have so many beautiful heirloom corn varieties, all so different and unique, and they're getting decimated from cross breeding with gmo corn. This is great news. Not to mention the fact that corn is a staple food for them. GMO is always bad in any amount, but if your staple food is GMO that's just terrible. We have too much corruption with our food industry to do the same thing as them, but people need to take action for themselves. Processed food almost always has gmo corn in it. Don't eat it. Buy certified organic corn. If its not certified organic, then its gmo, guaranteed. I just bought a 45 pound bucket of organic yellow dent corn online. I've been making cornbread, and just learned how to make tortillas. The 45 pound bucket of organic corn cost me 35 dollars. A big cast iron thing of cornbread costs like 25 cents to make. This is how food should be. |
