If you listened to the founding fathers they expected people to change the Constitution, and eventually, get rid of it for something new.

See, you don't follow them.

It's true. They made it clear the Constitution was not some universal, idealistic, God-made document, but was a document for their time, with limitations and failures they expected other generations to deal with. You go against the founders.

Well, contrary to what some extremely naive people think, there's plenty of them, on this forum. Probably more than most forums. I'm not accusing the forum itself, but they are here, big time.

And this topic always draws them like a moth to the light.

Well, that's one adjective I've never been accused of before. I've been accused of being intuitive, insightful, well read, etc... But never "short-sighted".

But hey... Thanks for your opinion.

It's all about you, huh?

We were talking about Ron Paul's ideas......

He certainly had my vote. Doesn't mean that there isn't something better. He looks to the past..he just wants to press the rewind button and hope the movie plays out different the next time.

I'd rather do that than watch it..cause I can see what's coming.. So, yeah..he was one of the better choices.

Speaking of guns...I look forward to the day when a father and son are walking around in a museum..the little boy points up at the glass and goes hey dad...what is that? -- the father goes..well son that is a weapon..people used to harm each other..what do you mean, the son would ask? The father would say people would intentionally hurt each other to get something they wanted, to steal, or out of vengeance..

The son would look up at his dad and say "I don't understand."

Re: The founding fathers were FAR wiser and better educated than people are today...
"Let us provide in our constitution for its revision at stated periods. What these periods should be nature herself indicates. By the European tables of mortality, of the adults living at any one moment of time, a majority will be dead in about nineteen years. At the end of that period, then, a new majority is come into place; or, in other words, a new generation. Each generation is as independent as the one preceding, as that was of all which had gone before. It has then, like them, a right to choose for itself the form of government it believes most promotive of its own happiness; consequently, to accommodate to the circumstances in which it finds itself that received from its predecessors; and it is for the peace and good of mankind that a solemn opportunity of doing this every nineteen or twenty years should be provided by the constitution, so that it may be handed on with periodical repairs from generation to generation to the end of time, if anything human can so long endure." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. Ya know... I think it takes a really sick person to NOT appreciate what the founders provided for us. People don't appreciate what THEY didn't have to PAY for.

Ever notice that? How people (not all) don't appreciate something as much, if someone else paid for it.

And people never know exactly what they had, until it's gone.

Your founding fathers just built another version of the state they could use to fuck the peasants over and bleed them dry. The only difference was they placed themselves at the top of the power pyramid in place of the king.

Their first official act was to institute the Whiskey Tax which hit the small still operators hard so the big jew Eastern distillers could take over the whole business. And that's what the state does, it robs from the little man and gives to the big fucking jew.

Your founding fathers sold you a bill of goods. It was defective from day one. Designed intentionaly to give your founding fathers the power to economicaly fuck an entire continent any time they wanted. And they, and their heirs, have been doing it ever since.

You just take our indifference in a completely wrong way. It's not about a lack of respect, gratefulness or appreciation. Has nothing to do with those things.

Let's take it to a very simple term. Let's use one of the posts from the very beginning of this thread about killing the natives of this country.

When your great grandfather lives in a house under another person's rule. All of his money goes to the owners of that house. He hears of another house a long journey away. It's occupied, but it's a big house and they aren't a very civilized bunch so that's not much to worry about.

He takes the long journey and moves into a room of the occupied house. He finds a room that only has a couple other natives in it. After a short time, he declares, this can be MY house. I can finally be free!!!

So he tells his slave to start cleaning the next room because he needs a place to settle during the day. This next room is even more occupied with those rascally natives.

After some thought, he begins pushing them further and further to other rooms away from him. Any resistance is met with death as this is HIS house!! And, he has a right under his freedom to make a place for his future.

A couple generations pass and you're now alive living in the house given to you. And while you appreciate it, you one day are walking through the rooms just thinking about the history of the place. Paint chips off the wall and blood begins to show. You begin to realize how you got the house. And while you will always love your great grandfather, and you appreciate that he made a place for you...you suddenly have a different feeling while in that house...you're not as comfortable..maybe a bit guilty..

After lots of walking and thinking in the house, you've come to a realization that you don't want to make the same mistakes twice. You feel that you need to evolve to the next step and move past your history and stop idolizing your past and start looking towards a completely unique and amazing future...just like your great grandfather thought he was doing.(In his own way)

Obviously you have not been taught any civics. The Constitution allows the PEOPLE to throw out legislators or any other government subversives if/when they attempt to subvert the Constitution, which is the law of the land. If We the People determine that the distribution or modification of the Constitutional powers is wrong, then WE have the power to change or correct it by the only way allowed by the Constitution -- with an Amendment.

As George Washington said: "Let there be no change by usurpation: for though this, in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed." And that is exactly what is happening to our country.

Let me repeat: The Constitution is the Law of the Land. It is not some temporary document "to get rid of for something new."

See, you don't know shit.

Great thread OP!!!

I for one am tired of defending America

We are the greatest nation on Earth, we have the ideology that disperses power and allows the populace control

They hate us for it, and now they are getting desperate to take what does not belong to them.

Stop apologizing, our forefathers have created a GREAT nation and I am a proud AMERICAN

Yes, it allows people to vote some in and others out. It also allows people to discard the Constitution in amendments. And Jefferson himself said that he didn't think it should be an eternal thing.... what you have is propaganda, idolizing man's thought instead of realizing it is good and bad, and needing changed due to experience.

Re: The founding fathers were FAR wiser and better educated than people are today...
They may not have had advanced (accumulated) scientific knowledge that we have today, but they had far more wisdom, common sense, and insight, than the vast majority of people today. They understood the nature of man, and the nature of tyranny far better then people do today, even though people today have had far more history to look back at.

Nowadays... REAL history is simply not taught in the schools. But worse than that, REVISIONIST (phony and skewed) history is taught instead. in contrast, the founders were well read, educated (with a REAL education and not a libtard "education"), and some of them accomplished more by the time they were 25, than people do their whole lives, today.

Were they perfect? Of course not. That's not the point. They were men, and NO man has ever been perfect, except for One. The point is, they were brilliant men. And these brilliant men risked EVERYTHING to obtain the only thing that's really worth ANYTHING.

Like "Braveheart" said... "What will you do without freedom"?

I know that the libs are just BURNING with desire to throw away the last amendments to the Bill of Rights. We've already thrown away the 4th, the 6th, and the 10th, and we've been feverishly chiseling away at the 1st as well. And now the libs want to flush the 2nd too.

The founders, who were FAR more intelligent than ANY politicians that we presently have in office (since Ron Paul left), did everything in their power to make sure that we would not have to go through what THEY did. And yes, they even warned us that we may indeed HAVE to go through what they did from time to time, because they KNEW the nature of man, and the relentless nature of tyranny.

So I ask you... Who are you going to trust?

Someone like Ben Franklin, who said:

"Those who would trade liberty for security deserve neither?

Or...

Someone like Obama, who said:

"Are we prepared to say that violence visited upon our children year after year after year is the price for our freedom?"

Obama is asking us to give up our freedom, for a SUPPOSED "security."

Now ask yourself... "Will I REALLY be safe if my more of my freedoms and privacy are taken?" And if so, what do you base that on?

Do you REALLY believe that you will be "safe", when ALL indicators are that crime will RISE, if we are made more defenseless?

People, the constitution is NOT the problem. Moral degradation, television, video games, and psychotropic meds, are a great deal of the problem. People have no hope, no bearing, no direction, and no REAL purpose! How can people continually feed their minds with such PURE GARBAGE, and yet expect any GOOD outcome from that? Some people BECOME what they BEHOLD, if they behold it often enough.

I'll tell you this... There is NO WAY that you can expect tragedies NOT to happen, in a "society" like this. I am not preaching here. I am simply telling you that it is patently RIDICULOUS to expect people to exemplify goodness and kindness and good will towards men, when they feed on nothing but death and destruction.

Some people handle it better than others, but that does not negate the point. In a grossly corrupted "society", there are going to be OUTRAGEOUS acts, like we saw recently. And the answer is NOT to penalize GOOD people. Or to put GOOD people's life in danger, whether it be by criminals, or by government, like our founding fathers were the MOST concerned with.

The answer is to RETURN to the constitution. And LET people defend themselves, according to the 2nd amendment. If you want to feel safe, then go about it like our founders MADE PROVISIONS for. Not like some COMMUNIST PUPPET expects you to believe will work.

I could site here and quote you HUNDREDS of brilliant comments made by the founders, but I shouldn't HAVE to. People need to start LEARNING about their rights, if they ever expect to KEEP them.

Thomas Jefferson said:

"If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed."

Patrick Henry said:

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined."

As I said, I could quote you HUNDREDS of nuggets of wisdom, but I will leave it at that. It's up to you to decide. Do you LEARN from history, or will you be doomed to repeat it?

Now is the time to decide.
 Quoting: Paul Revere 30091444

Our country is so vastly different now. It is beyond words.
I wish i could have grown up with the founding fathers sometimes. They truly were men of a different mind.
Although, I do look to the future with hope. While things are approaching a precipice that will indeed carry us off and into a new world.. There is no going back. We must look at what we have and the resources that are available to us and push forward. Even with all the evil and tyranny around us. Even with the complete and utter lack and disregard of morals and absolute truth in our society. We must push forawrd.

Carry the banner. Relay the message. Spread the truth my friends. We all need to be Paul Reveres in this day and age. No one else will do it. We must. We must..
 Quoting: The_Mhael

Things may be vastly different nowadays in some ways, but one thing remains exactly the same... Traitors WITHIN the gate, are the most serous threat that liberty faces. It's more rampant today, than it was then.

And it was someone way ahead of our founders that pointed this out:

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.” Marcus Cicero
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30091444

Keep your eyes open people. They're walking all around us every day. Thanks for the insight Op.
