Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 29503737 Bahamas 12/17/2012 06:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | why would I use a nuke to protect my home? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1707881 SHUT THE F UP YOU LIBERAL RETARD....Go drown in a bucket of water I am providing a counterpoint to the myopic gun hysteria. Try seeing something that isn't tacked to your nose. Not everything is literal. Its an illustrative analogy showing that the tools of killing are not all the same and that having everyone armed to the teeth is not necessarily safer. the point is to show that its not just about people killing people. would you want everyone running around with their finger on a nuke trigger? no of course not. There are limits to how much power of killing and destruction should be permissable in society. There is a line somewhere that is quite enough. And this is a real issue that needs to be thought about critically without resorting to parroted dialogue. Its not as simple to figure out as something hanging from ones nose and neither is my apt analogy. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 27302733 United States 12/17/2012 06:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The only thing that is going to do any good is for people to change. We are far too primitive right now to give up weapons. We have lunatics on the news every minute. We've got people who have an immense fascination with an object designed to take life. People collect them and worship them..clean them...gaze at them while drinking their beer. Giving guns up is not the answer right now. Both sides (Criminals) and (Vigilantes) is the reason. Until there isn't two sides...and until we hit absolute rock bottom...we will continually become more and more violent as that's currently our path. There has to be a currently-unimaginable amount of change in humanity to take place before anything like this happens. Possibly several hundred if not even a thousand years yet to go... |

This number includes homicides, suicides and accidental deaths. In 2005 (the latest year for which numbers are available) there were 30,364 gun-related deaths in the United States. This number includes homicides, suicides, and accidental deaths. True, the United States has more people than Great Britain so you can’t really compare these two numbers. Britain has about 61 million, while the United States has about 296 million, which gives the U.S. about five times the population of Great Britain. So, a better comparison of the numbers would be to multiple the British gun deaths by five. 42 x 5 = 210 Now we can compare the numbers.
