The logical fallacy of pro gun arguments
Small nuclear devices don't kill people.
People kill people.
Therefor everyone should be able to carry around a suitcase nuke for defense

I am providing a counterpoint to the myopic gun hysteria.

Try seeing something that isn't tacked to your nose.
Not everything is literal. Its an illustrative analogy showing
that the tools of killing are not all the same and that
having everyone armed to the teeth is not necessarily safer.
the point is to show that its not just about people killing people.
would you want everyone running around with their finger on a nuke trigger?
no of course not. There are limits to how much power of killing
and destruction should be permissable in society. There is a
line somewhere that is quite enough. And this is a real
issue that needs to be thought about critically without
resorting to parroted dialogue. Its not as simple to figure out
as something hanging from ones nose and neither is my apt
analogy.

Re: The logical fallacy of pro gun arguments
Here is a problem with your Logic Nukes are threatening because using one will start a war that would destroy the planet. A gun is a 500 year old piece of equipment. This is by no means anywhere in the same ball park.
Here's a question for you.
Law strips away legal gun ownership.
Yet Nearly 91% of gun related fatalities are by a stolen gun.
How does that change shit?
My bad my figure was wrong.

Re: The logical fallacy of pro gun arguments
The only thing that is going to do any good is for people to change.

We are far too primitive right now to give up weapons. We have lunatics on the news every minute. We've got people who have an immense fascination with an object designed to take life. People collect them and worship them..clean them...gaze at them while drinking their beer.

Giving guns up is not the answer right now. Both sides (Criminals) and (Vigilantes) is the reason. Until there isn't two sides...and until we hit absolute rock bottom...we will continually become more and more violent as that's currently our path.

There has to be a currently-unimaginable amount of change in humanity to take place before anything like this happens. Possibly several hundred if not even a thousand years yet to go...

Re: The logical fallacy of pro gun arguments
in 2009 there were 42 gun-related deaths in Great Britain. This number includes homicides, suicides and accidental deaths.

In 2005 (the latest year for which numbers are available) there were 30,364 gun-related deaths in the United States. This number includes homicides, suicides, and accidental deaths.

True, the United States has more people than Great Britain so you can’t really compare these two numbers. Britain has about 61 million, while the United States has about 296 million, which gives the U.S. about five times the population of Great Britain. So, a better comparison of the numbers would be to multiple the British gun deaths by five.

42 x 5 = 210

Now we can compare the numbers.

Gun-related deaths for Great Britain (if given a population equal to the United States) = 210

Gun-related deaths in the United States = 30,364.

210 vs. 30,364

Well considering that guns have been banned in the UK since before then, that should mean that there weren't any gun deaths, as using the ban logic, there should be no guns in the UK.

as previous poster said you cant compare the UK and the US

You could also add 65 million Americans didn't shoot anyone this week

The reason Nukes are Bad is because of Mutually Assured Destruction which means everyone loses.

Lead comes from the ground.
Nukes do damage that that breaks down elements on a nuclear level it literally wipes everything off the face of the earth.

No matter how you try to make this sound your argument is just stupid.

Even if you don't use nukes you can use another analogy like rpg's hey why don't everyone carry an rpg for defense are rpg's don't kill people people do.You see how stupid your argument really is.All you need for defense is your fist.

It's still fucking stupid. I could say something just as pointless like Erotic asphyxiation accounts for 250 to 1000 deaths per year in the us. Ban Masturbation Save Lives.

Why don't you keep your opinions on your side of the Atlantic. What the fuck does any of this have to do with You or anyone In the UK or Australia or anywhere other than the US this is an Issue for US citizens. You don't hear us bitching to the UK over the fact that they own like 10 nations, and that the people of those nations want freedom yet the UK doesn't give a fuck. It's not my business and neither is American Gun control to you so shut the fuck up you aren't helping you are just pissing people off talking about something that you have no place talking about.

Nukes are designed to Destroy everything.
A gun Was designed for one on one combat(multiple on one with some guns).
The reason Nukes are Bad is because of Mutually Assured Destruction which means everyone loses.

So the elderly, people with some kind of health problem, women, etc. are supposed to use their fists against a gang of savages who attacks them with intent to mug, rape, beat, or steal from them?

The major problem that all liberals have is this:

You want to take all accountability and responsibility away from the individual and give it to the government.

As much as you foreigners would love to see the destruction of this country, it's simply not gonna happen the way you want it to.

A robber walks into a nursing home with no gun ,an elderly person points a gun at the thief to stop him the thief overpowers her takes her gun and shoots everyone in the nursing home. Ban guns, save lives
