So how is banning guns gonna stop people shooting each other, they banned guns in Britain. Before the ban, shootings were I'm from Liverpool, were few and far between.

Now every kid on every other street corner has a gun or has access to a gun, and shootings are a common thing.

My husband is American, and I asked him this the other day and it ended in a huge bust up because HE tells me most Americans are stupid (he is American and not stupid) so I just said and you would have stupid people with guns. This caused a huge argument which only ended with me tickling him to defuse the situation lol and I am not going to ask him again. But I was wondering this my self. I know a lot of people say gun crime is to do with race, although I think most of the mass shooting have been Caucasian shooters, at least the ones on the news. I have seen a pretty good documentary that seems pretty spot on to me and it just attributes it to Americans been more violent a population than European country's as the other country's with guns do not have the same problems as America. As you the OP are English we seem not to understand WHY the Americans need gun's. I know my husbands dad has one and he uses it to shoot squirrels so that they don't nick the bird food. and that's all I need to say about that.

From the point ot self defense:
A gun is a tool, that works as an equalizer, thus allowing someone to defend himself/herself against larger or more numerous opponents.
To have a gun is to take the responsability to provide for your own protection and wellbeing against those that seek to harm you or take what is legally yours.
If you don´t have a gun, you are virtually defenseless against, larger, more vicious or a larger number of opponents,

I can't speak for other Americans but I find guns to be useful tools; for hunting, self-defense, and it is just plain fun to shoot.

Again, I can't speak for other Americans but I have never once in 55 years thought that my guns were the solution to any problem other than hunting or, if the need arose, to protect myself.

You all act as if guns have some sort of dark magical power that takes over the owner of firearms and causes them to go berserk and if we could just remove guns from society all these tragedies could be averted.
