Re: Colorado governor points to VIOLENCE in VIDEO GAMES
These "games" are pure evil, designed by satan to corrupt the minds and souls of young people.
 Quoting: Lisa*Lisa

I have two Christian sons who have played these games in the past. On occasion, they still do now.

One is fine when he plays, the other can become aggressive, angry and curse--so much cursing from a mouth that suppose to belong to God.

We've had many arguments over him playing this one specific game that always brings out the worst in him. He realizes it now and stays away from that game.
 Quoting: KoFFee_

Call of Duty will do that to the most sane of people. I know some people that almost will have an aneurysm because of this game.
 Quoting: Thane 20817251

If they have a temper that comes out while playing a video game, then they have a temper period. Something else will likely set it off if they can't even deal with losing on Call of Duty. Maybe the games could be help them learn patience.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30018099

So, it sounds like what is being said, is that the games don't produce the violent anger--it's already there. The games just bring it to the surface. hmm
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task

Truth time. I have to admit I have anger spikes in the player vs player matches sometimes, but here's something interesting: In the co-op matches I have no anger, in fact I have nothing but love for my fellow team mates and a want to perform my best for the team and cover their backs in taking out the enemy.

Maybe what's needed is a shift in the gaming industry from PVP to co-op?

People that blame violent videogames for violent acts are not only retarded, but they're completely wrong. Violent activities have occurred for many years long before videogames as simple as pong have been around. People that make such claims about videogames have obviously never played them themselves. I have been a gamer my entire life, since about the age of 3 and once have has the thought passed through my head that hurting people in real life. It's downright illogical. Most gamers that I know are the most mellow, easy going people I've ever met. If you're gonna point fingers and play the blame game, blame it on the parents who are too detatched from their child to give any guidance. So many parents these days are having children when they're not even responsible to take care of themselves let alone a child that needs love and the full attention of at least one parent... /rant
 Quoting: Se7en

ohyeah

I have to say, though, that some parents go the other direction and become "too attached" and are extremely controlling and overbearing--I've seen the negative effects that can have on a child, too.

So very true, in some cases.

Just for once, I would like to help a call and cry for "Save the Adults", or "Save the Parents".. its always "Save the Children"

Re: Colorado governor points to VIOLENCE in VIDEO GAMES
Take away the video games.
When these things keep happening, look for another scapegoat.

Take away the violent movies.
When another monster shoots up a school, search for another scapegoat.

Take away violent lyrics from the young generation's music.
When someone kills their family, you'll look for another scapegoat.

Take away the country's weapons from legal owners.
When someone finds one of the millions of weapons still floating around, there will be blood once again and people will look for a scapegoat.

How many freedoms will you take away before you realize that evil people aren't just some recent trend that's popped up with the arrival of video games or modern weapons? Evil has existed since the day that man's mind could invent up such a thing. As far as we know, it may never go away.

What we CAN do is make known that we will fight this evil as long as we have breath in our bodies; That we WON'T give in to pressure to take away our freedoms and take away our means to defend ourselves from such attacks.

I'll stand against every politician who tries to take away our rights the same as I would stand against a homicidal maniac, because they are both terrorists one and the same.

Why does someone need to virtually practice killing someone else?

That aside, the fact remains it is an EDUCATIONAL issue that starts from birth to adulthood. A cultural problem.

Just look at Switzerland, for example:

Thread: Butter knife

They have guns and video games!

Re: Colorado governor points to VIOLENCE in VIDEO GAMES
i'll catch alot of crap for this but.....

i think the arguement is valid enough to start a serious discussion about video games with realistic killing scenerios.

anyone old or mature enough and of sound mind can obviously play these sorts of games without being affected by it. but unsupervised children and people with mental disorders shouldnt be playing this games.

i think the fault and responsibility lies with the parents on this one.
 Quoting: Oyster

According to the most recent Psychiatric Diagnosis manuals, every human being has emotional and/or mental disorders.. hence no one should play video games by your rule stated above.

This is just a fact. Satan controls the entertainment industry and letting our youth kill people in video games as a form of entertainment is extremely destructive and evil and it desensitizes them to the horrors of violence.

It chips away at values and what is decent and right. The average american kid is a mess, just visit the public high or middle schools and they are full of punks that disrespect adults, have no respect for authority and what is decent.

Sorry, it's the truth. Kids stand no chance while parents feed them violence and degradation as entertainment in the home 24/7. It's a pity.

I think the ESRB rating system use to be helpful for some parents, but I'm not sure if anyone really pays attention to it anymore.

I've known instances, too, where the child has been kept from playing it at home, but would play at his friend's sleepover or party.

I even know of churches that have "game" night. Teens would bring all their gaming equipment and play all night.

Actually, it occurs in one of the most popular mega-churches in this area that my sons have attended.

We've had many discussions about this, too.

Tell me about it--recently, I've learned more patience from driving in my car than anywhere else.

Seems like as time passes on, the crazier it gets on the road.

I remember the days working in retail, too. Lots more patience was required.

Waiting in line--doesn't bother me anymore. I usually try to break the icy looks from everyone else by bringing up a humorous conversation.

Marriage--DEFINITELY, a major testing ground for bringing all types of negative emotion to the surface.
As a Christian, I see the problem as sin, and the solution as Jesus Christ.

I know speaking about my Savior will not sit well with many, but I am just as human as everyone here, but I've come to the realization that I am a sinner. I've had a difficult past, but hopes for a brighter future because He is in my life.

When I choose to live life MY way, there will be anger and all those negative feelings. But overtime, they are being weeded out as I choose to live my life His way--His will, not mine, must be done.
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task

Re: Colorado governor points to VIOLENCE in VIDEO GAMES
I believe it's a combination of video games and the fact that he had underlying issues.

If Adam had autism, we need to seriously re-exxamine our nation's vaccination policy. Yet nobody is talking about that.

Vaccinations ARE linked to autism. Autism is now even listed as an adverse reaction in at least one childhood 3-in-1 vaccination.

When I was a kid, we got a few vaccinations before we went to school, at the age of 4 or 5. Now they are vaccinating children with 30 vaccinations before the age of 3! Their bodies and minds are not developed enough to handle this.

If vaccinations made Adam Lanza autistic, and the autism contributed to his social awkwardness and lonliness and anger...then vaccinations are to blame.

I know most autistic people are not violent, but if he did have it...and if autism contributed to his troubles, then Adam Lanza was also a victim...a victim of vaccination damage.

But, I do think that violent video games are desensitizing children to violence.

We need to think about what we let children play with! Video games are not the same as playing cowboys and Indians. It's so much worse...they program the mass killing into the mind.

Ever hear about this? If you do something 21 times, and it gets programmed into the subconscious. It's true. Once you do something enough times, it gets programmed into the subconscious mind as a habit.

Like driving a car. When we first start out driving, it's awkward, and nothing feels right. We have to think about everything we do. But after a while, driving becomes second nature. And soon, we can even do it subconsciously. We can drive and talk and drive and eat and drive and text, etc...

Same thing with violent video games. When you first start out "killing" - it's awkward. But after doing it for a while, it becomes second nature....

So, anyone who denies that video games don't affect the subconscious.....well, then they don't understand the subconscious mind and how it works.

Games the same as real life? You're stupid and should stop posting. I played over 10 years of killing games, don't want to harm anyone. How about banning alcohol, since it has caused so much damage and death? You don't understand the subconscious mind, know it all, dumb ass.

These "games" are pure evil, designed by satan to corrupt the minds and souls of young people.

Humanity has been always violent..there is no need to blame videos games, books and movies..communists and nazis didnt need video games to commit terrible deeds...Healthy minded individual knows difference between reality and virtual reality

Children have minds that are not fully developed yet, they are being formed. They are influenced by these games, music and movies that are designed by satan to corrupt thinking.

Blame alcohol, prescription drugs, shit parents, illegal drugs, not video games. They have done no harm to me. Satan doesn't tell the parents to buy 6 years olds games made for 18 year olds. Your little brain can't understand the age ratings.

Religion like yours causes pedophiles to rape kids. See b.s statements like you have posted.

It's a cop-out response from the Governor, he just didn't have the balls to speak the hard truth.
 Quoting: TheSeventhGate

Yeah, that Sorcery in the form of SSRIs and other psychotropic drugs are making children with mental/emotional problems into mass killers... but not just children but also adults.

He must have some shares at Wall St. invested in the Drug Companies... and the rest of the Military Industrial Congressional Complex.
