It's war, what do you think happens? Only what the media tells you? Soldiers have cut off the hands, ears, and other body parts of Iraqis. ITS FUCKING WAR. It turns any man into a deranged fighter. All your morals are out the window when your life is threatened every day and your friends are dying before your eyes. Stuff happens, don't like it? End the war. Cant do that? That shut the fuck up about what you don't know. Just because you read, hear, or are informed of something, doesn't mean you truly know. You're not there to see what goes on. You don't know how you'd react in that situation unless you're put in it.
