So I went to the dentist and had to have a molar extracted (just posted separate thread on that)

They showed and told me I have periodontal disease. I have no cavities (except for the one on my molar)

Now they want me to come for a 'deep cleaning' which gets deep into the gums. I had this back in 2005 and it was expensive back then.

I was told there was nothing I could do to prevent or kill this bacteria but I remembered seeing threads here about oil pulling and am willing to try it.

What type of oil is used and how exactly do you 'pull' it effectively?

Any help/advice is appreciated.
