Conspiracy Theorist User ID: 8962305 United States 12/17/2012 11:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Springfield XD .40 is excellent. I carry one myself. Get the XD(m) model. Larger magazine capacity. And, XDs are reasonably priced. Last Edited by Conspiracy Theorist on 12/17/2012 11:59 AM |

DooMCooN User ID: 1266067 United States 12/17/2012 12:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is want I want op. A Glock 27. because, It's sub compact, and .40 caliber, and also change out the barrels for .22, 9mm, or. 357. But I just want the 9mm lonewolf barrel. Because 9mm is cheaper, but I prefer .40 cal. So its the best of both worlds. And you can use the mags from all model glocks. But that's just my opinion. |

All are great, well made, easy to disassemble for deep cleaning, and have an excellent history of quality. Caliber: 9mm or .40 You have to hold each in your hand and decide which feels best to you. It's a personal thing. I personally love my Glocks and my CZ more than my others. |

Never put your finger on the trigger unless you are ready to shoot. Point the gun down or up never at anyone or anything unless it is the target. Know what the target you are shooting at is so the bullet doesnt richochet back at you. |

Evil_Twin User ID: 23761243 United States 12/17/2012 12:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had an XD in .45 acp for a few years. It was a fine gun. I put over 10k rounds through it without a single problem. If I were in the market for another polymer framed pistol, I'd most likely buy a S&W M&P. mainly because they are actually made in the USA, unlike the XD or Glock or pretty much any other popular pistol. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 23524705 United States 12/17/2012 01:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Get a .22, even if you own other guns etc. If you expect the pistol to help you out then you NEED to put in the time to learn how to shoot. That means shooting allot, everyday if possible. .22 is cheap to shoot, and the practice will pay off tremendously. I'm a huge fan of Ruger firearms in general, but I really like the Mk-III target pistols. I have a stainless one, and my friend has the 22/45 version with a target barrel. These guns are incredibly accurate and reliable. I have shot tens of thousands of rounds through mine and it only seems to get better with age. Plus I feel like for 99.9999% of all the defensive uses of a handgun, .22 caliber is more then enough. Almost every-time a civilian uses a gun for defense, its one or two shots, and never reloading. Almost every-time its one attacker and almost every-time if there are more then one the other ones run away because they don't want to get shot. Almost every-time someone is shot they change their priorities really fast from 'I'm going to rob you, to JESUS CHRIST, I NEED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL'. I would get some pistol experience before you move up in calibers. Shoot the .22 until you can hit reasonable targets every-time, then take the sights off. Shot-placement is of greater value then 'stopping power'. The truth is that ALL pistol calibers lack stopping power, even a .45 is a marginal man-killing round, and hard to control compared to a .22 That being said my CCW is a ppk/s in .380, and my open carry side-arm is a super redhawk .44 mag. If you want the most powerful, reliable, and accurate pistol, its really hard to beat a .357/.44 mag revolver. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17552394 Kinda like the Springfield XD .40 cal?? Thoughts.. I have an XD .45, reliable gun, i have been very happy with it, just not happy with the cost of ammo, but thats not Springfields fault. “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” |
