I've always wondered why so many people have children into poverty in third world countries. I can only presume a lot of it is through rape. If you, yourself are in the middle of a famine with no food and all but dirty drinking water would you choose to start having babies? I don't think anyone sane would anyway.

I also see exactly what your saying with your initial post. We have lost the ability to nurture and cherish our kids so they grow up into decent human beings, or at the very least it's increasingly more difficult to instil values into children that aren't influenced by all the crap they watch on tv and bad habits they learn from other kids who's parents haven't put the same hard effort into bringing their kids up that you have with your own kids. Somewhere along the way, empathy is very quickly being eliminated from society and without it, it's surely no holds barred for the way you'll be willing to treat others.
