Towards the end they were taken over by a very dark spirit energy that changed the culture for the worse. Before the sun god sacrificial human stuff they were a very loving peaceful people. They were light years ahead of us in spiritual maters, and understood energy in ways we could not imagine. Then they had the very bad missfourtune of being led down a dark path by a few possessed individuals. The early shamans knew what was happening and did everything they could to try to stop it. The coulture shifted rappedly in ways very similar to ours today.
