Stairway to Heaven = Babylon


In the Bible, Babylon has three incarnations...
first is the Tower of Babel that reached to heaven,
second is the Babylonian empire and third is Mystery, Babylon.


The Tower of Babel [Babylon] reached to heaven
because the people were one [thus the lyrics
"when one is all and all are one."] God divided
the people and destroyed the tower.


The repeated theme: "Oh it makes me wonder."
This is St John the Divine when he sees Babylon
in a vision for the first time [Rev 17], he
"wondered with great wonder."

The words in the song: "to be a rock and not to roll"
are the reverse of Jeremiah's description of the
destruction of Babylon:

" I will roll you down from the rocks and make you
a burnt mountain."
