Lebanese mayor: Israeli missile caused explosion

The mayor of the southern Lebanese town of Tair Harfa, were an explosion occurred earlier on Monday, said the explosion was caused by an Israeli missile left in the area close to the border since the 2006 war.

The mayor denied claims that the explosion happened at a Hezbollah weapons...

A large explosion has struck southern Lebanon near the border with Israel, the Lebanese official news agency reports.

South Lebanon is considered a stronghold of the country's militant Hezbollah movement. The group's guerrillas fought the Israeli army to a standstill in 2006.

Lebanon's National News Agency said the reasons behind the early Monday blast near the border town of Tair Harfa were not clear. There were no immediate reports on casualties.
