The old fashion cop on a beat is a good idea. Their presents is all that is required. Once trust is established, the locals will be empowered to help the officers to rid their area of crime. Takes time.

If this affected me in some minute way I would be livid.
It takes alot of cage rattling to wake up a heavily medicated lamb. Lets see where the hearts of "man/lamb" lies.

Cancellation of Town Hall Meetings

In the interest of public safety, we have elected to cancel the remaining Town Hall Meetings.

We have corresponded with numerous residents and non-residents today alone who were both supportive and against our Street Crimes Unit and Town Hall Meetings. Some of the correspondance has caused us great pause in whether or not the meetings should remain as scheduled.

As the police department, it is our duty to protect ALL residents and non-residents from harm. We feel that with the strong feelings on both sides of the Street Crimes Unit issue, a safe and productive meeting would not be the probable outcome.

I am enabling the fair use law here for relating this information lol.

I hate to say this...I fucking hate martial law tactics...

But at least they're doing something about the high crime. If you wanna stop them, form up a militia and go patrol the streets there yourselves to lower the crime rate. Hell, if I saw an actual effort I'd load up a bus pass and join ya.

yes the severity of the statements have been dialed back, but they are still going through with it. all they did was back off from the scrutiny. besides, armed swat teams giong into your neighborhood for disturbance calls isnt enough of a warning flag for you? yes they dialed back, im sure many went back and read the whole article (i know i did) but the step is there still in the wrong direction. no matter how big the step is.
