You can never quit music, because it wells up from inside of you. Sometimes the band thing runs it's course and it's time for a change anyway. Te money was never good for anyone except the bands that got lucky and had popular songs.
You could always just scale it back to a hobby and keep hope alive, or look for part-time work related to music and playing that isn't necessarily a band/gig enviroment, to keep your resume going and progress somewhat if you still think you deserve another shot with a better outfit later on.
Or just grind down in your basement and enjoy your talent, you can still have fun and entertain guests, some or the best music takes a long time to write and forms in a way other than sitting down trying to compose a song because your making one.
