Current gov't tyranny:

TSA

IRS

Homeland Security

10's of millions of illegal enemy invaders crossing our border constantly

Illegal alien president

etc....

How has the 2nd amendment prvented this? Oh, it hasn't!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4556178

Since you apparently have the intelligence to recognize Government tyranny, why can you not see that which yet restrains it?

American's belief in the rights illuminated by the Second Amendment are about all that inhibits the progress of evil in this country.

Firearms Prohibition will not protect society from acts of mental illness. It will however make society all that more vulnerable to the violence of mentally illness.

The Second Amendment is not about "Hunting Rights". It addresses Societies right to defend itself from Government tyranny. As such, any weapon available to the Government is by natural default also the right of the citizen to possess. Now isn't that a frightening thought...

American Society has already, and for some time, tolerated various violations to the Second Amendment. Yet all we have seen is a growth of Government Tyranny and a lessening of personal safety.

They were outnumbered and holed up in one spot. Surefire lose. It would take a great number of armed and coordinated citizens to have an effect and you don't see that happening like The Patriot.

OP

Eat your words now.

There were TWO FAMOUS EVENTS in recent American history where armed U.S. citizens faced down corrupt local and state law enforcement, until justice was done, and true democracy prevailed, rather than lawless thuggery, imposed by government.

Both stories were made into movie docudramas.

#1 - "The Battle of Athens" - in Tennessee in 1946 (Movie produced in 1992.)

#2 - "The Phenix City Story" - in Alabama in 1954 (Movie produced in 1955.)

* * * * *

FIRST --

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

The Battle of Athens (sometimes called the McMinn County War) was a rebellion led by citizens in Athens and Etowah, Tennessee, United States, against the local government in August 1946. The citizens, including some World War II veterans, accused the local officials of political corruption and voter intimidation.

The event is sometimes cited by firearms ownership advocates as an example of the value of the Second Amendment in combating tyranny.

SECOND --

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

The story concerns the 1954 assassination of Albert Patterson, who had just been elected Alabama Attorney General on a platform of cleaning up Phenix City, Alabama, a city controlled by organized crime. Patterson was murdered in Phenix City, and the subsequent outcry resulted in the imposition of martial law on the city by the state government.

The film based on these events opens with a 13-minute newsreel-style preface including the late T.V. news anchorman and reporter in Los Angeles, Clete Roberts, interviewing many of the actual participants.

The problems grew out of the presence of Fort Benning, Georgia, across the river, and the nearly century-long existence of vice dens in the area.

So many soldiers from Fort Benning were robbed, beaten and murdered there that at one time the post's commander, Gen. George S. Patton, threatened to take his tanks into the city and clean it out himself if the state didn't do something about it. (Patton was shortly thereafter transferred, and the city remained the haven for gambling, prostitution and drug dealing that it had been.)

There's more...

Here's a comment on IMDB from someone who knew about the events firsthand:

The person writes:

I'm surprised that more people are not aware of this story which climaxed with no less than the murder of the Democratic nominee for Attorney General of Alabama at the time when said nomination was tantamount to election. That the election of Albert Patterson scared the local criminal syndicate into that kind of move is almost unprecedented. The only other example I can think of something like this occurring was in the early years of the last century when Special Prosecutor Francis J. Heney was shot and wounded while he was investigated the corrupt city machine in San Francisco.

After a brief documentary introduction by CBS news reporter Clete Roberts of actual Phenix City residents, the story begins with the Pattersons, father John McIntire and son Richard Kiley getting reluctantly involved in the fight to clean up their town which is notorious for being a wide open cesspool of vice and corruption. It's pointed out that Phenix City is across from Columbus, Georgia and thirty minutes from Fort Benning. A certain amount of vice and corruption will inevitably settle there in towns that cater to the military and the pleasures the service people will seek off duty.

But Phenix City has gotten way out of hand and it's become a state embarrassment to the people of Alabama. Which is why John McIntire wins that primary leading the way to the unheard of events that followed. Let's just say that what happens here was contemplated, but never done in Chicago during the days of Al Capone.

The cast also includes Kathryn Grant as a young woman working as an informer in one of the clubs, Lenka Patterson as Kiley's loyal, but concerned wife, Edward Andrews and John Larch as brains and muscle behind the syndicate. It also includes James Edwards and Helen Martin whose child is killed when Edwards helps Kiley. With I might add the appropriate feeling one might have for a small black girl in Alabama of the Fifties.

After the action of this film John Patterson took his dad's place as Attorney General and did put an end to the corruption of Phenix City. In 1958 he ran for Governor and won, but contrary to what you might think ran on a strict segregationist platform. His main primary opponent taking the more moderate racial position was George C. Wallace. That never happened again, Wallace saw to that.

And Patterson is still alive and in 2008 was a supporter of Barack Obama for president. Truth can really be stranger than fiction.

The Phenix City Story is a hard hitting, pulling no punches documentary style of a family's fight against corruption. Try to see it when next broadcast.

So, you asked for it, OP.

You got it.

Re: Waco = Heavily armed populous, yet still got their asses handed to them by the government.
Yeah, these Government Assassins are pretty darn good at shooting people in the back, and assaulting women and little kids.

Let me tell you something about Ruby Ridge ass clown.

The 14 year old boy Sammy was shot in the back by BATF.
(Killed running away)

The boys dog was shot through the ass by the BATF.
(Killed Running Away)

The friend Kevin was shot in the back (shoulder) by a BATF sniper.

The Dad Randy was shot in the back by a BATF sniper.

The unarmed woman, the mother was shot in the face by a BATF sniper.

The BATF agent killed, was shot in the back by his own BATF swat team member.

This was either a "friendly fire" incident, but more likely this was an assassination of a "Highly Decorated" officer, (a non NWO guy) and the Patsy was Weaver and his family.

There was never intended to be ANY survivors, but the BATF plan went sideways.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

As for WACO you need to see the FLIR camera images of BATF assassins shooting unarmed victims at the WACCO compound. The film "What Happened at Waco" tells the story.

I think you should all give up your guns,

Carry a jar of lubricant around at all times,

Stretch out your butt-hole so Psychopaths WITH GUNS can butt-rape your ass anytime they want.

Watch quietly, and not say anything when giant buildings disolve into their own footprint at free-fall speed.

Bend over, and drop your drawers, when ordered to by your masters.

Take your medications as ordered by your masters.

Believe without question when your masters tell you something.

You stupid little mental midget bitch...you changed the subject..not I.

Answer the fucking question....Can you show us ONE incident of the 2nd amendment preventing tyranny?

ANSWER NOW!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4556178

"mental midget bitch" your age is showing...instead of wasting my time on a shill who apparently doesn't know how and why this country was founded. I'll leave you a qoute.

"... God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty.... And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 (C.J. Boyd, Ed., 1950)

yes, sheep, re-read this part.
"And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms."

so my answer to your question is: Passively, every day we have it. if you think our government would listen to us if we didn't metaphorically have them "watching their selves". And You think we would be as free as we are now if we didn't have the second amendment? If you truly, yes and believe this country can work without the second amendment...

Re: Waco = Heavily armed populous, yet still got their asses handed to them by the government.
First, to wage war with an enemy far superior than you requires a little more finesse than holding up in a big house. However, it must be pointed out that the feds were so scared after getting shot the hell up that they retreated to a point almost a mile away and didn't come back for months, and then only with armor.

You must be everywhere, but nowhere. By day you are a gas station attendant. By night you ambush enemy fuel trucks. By day you do factory work. By night you wake the enemy at the foot of his bed in his home.

You don't always have to win. So long as you never lose you are still in the game. These are just the classic rules of asymmetrical warfare.

Obviously.

So tell us when the 2nd amendment has EVER prevented government tyranny -- which is indeed it's intended purpose.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4556178

I think it has prevented ever since it was written into the Constitution. I think it still is preventing it , and will continue to do so until future generations become foolish enough to give in !!!

If it hadnt of been for the Second Amendment their would have already been genocide here like in Germany(Hitler)China(Mao)Russia(Stalin) and Cambodia(Pol Pot)

Dumbass.

The Davidians had actually completely routed the Feds after their initial attempt to invade the church. The Feds had to beg for a cease fire, which the Davidians mercifully granted. The Feds then carried off their wounded and retreated. If the davidians had known their ultimate fate, I think they would have just wiped out the force that showed up and made a statement that the feds cannot take down everyone. By letting them retreat, regroup and reinforce, they just did the feds a favor to their own detriment. They lost because of their honor and because they didn't want to just kill people who were giving up and begging for mercy.

Waco was women and children hiding in a bunker from armed military trained thugs with a tank.

Ruby ridge was one man against and entire military armed department serving a warrant.

If 200 men with rifles decided the congress needed exterminating, it would happen and a new government would be elected to replace the tyrants who would have risen up to warrant such an extreme event.

Calling people tards just makes any argument you have invalid. It makes you seem like you are incapable of forming a coherent thought. Makes you come off as someone who is mean and hates others because they have a different belief than you. You need to learn some tolerance and how to have an adult conversation.
