The reincarnation of Andrew Jackson would be nice. Quoting: Dr.Ricks We need a patriotic leader to get this country back to Constitutional Republic form. The reincarnation of Andrew Jackson would be nice. Quoting: Dr.Ricks Yep, returning to a constitutional republic is whats needed. Maybe even a constitutional convention. Most importantly picking out the bad seeds in our elected officials. But thats for later. The war is now. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8397139 Me, personally, I think we'll just see some more nonsense legislation - like the '94 assault weapons ban. Not arguing with you, OP, you may be right. I'm just wishfully hoping that it doesn't come to confiscation. As am i, if they do this civil unrest will be inevitable. The only real reason most of these people bought guns in the first place is to protect their families, liberty, and god given rights. Taking guns away from law abiding citizens retty much endangers all three of those categories wouldnt you agree? It's all leading up to the implementation of martial law. The (legal) guns are going the way of the dinosaurs, friends. That was a given the second this CT shooting took place - legally owning a firearm in this country will soon be a thing of the past. And the first step will be passing legislation to take away semi-automatic weapons. The process of trying to confiscate them will lead to massive uprisings, which will lead to martial law. Which will lead to massive casualties and FEMA camps. It's inevitable. And all of those who think their guns are going to protect them are going to realize that they aren't nearly as well armed as the government, and will likely be the first to be taken out for their resistance... after 10 years our military can't even beat a bunch of untrained hill jacks running around with AK-47's over in Afghanistan. And I wonder how many in the military will refuse to fire on Americans. Not to mention the military is being cut back by $600 billion Jan 1st. Should be interesting.... |

That's one reason why I don't think they'll confiscate just yet. Eventually, yeah, maybe. But right now I don't think they've got the numbers they need from the police and military. I don't know for certain, mind you, I'm only speculating. They'd just love to come and get them though, I'm sure of that. They probably dream about it. |

And lets say your slated to get out in 12 months. Knowing that when u get out you'll have to surrender all of your personal weapons to the government. Are u going to fight for such a government? |

So theyre gonna have a clusterfuck at base when they end up telling the soldiers theyre going to fight against the very people they signed up to protect. |

STAND UP to those who show up LAST. They can't protect us AT ALL!! Those children would have had a chance if ONE teacher had a gun to stop this tragedy. STOP WISHING FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. They're not our protectors... WE ARE!! |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 28688993 12/18/2012 01:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Light the blue touchpaper and stand well back. I can only see this evolving beyond politics to a choice. It will be what you choose that determines which side you will take as there will be no turning back. Once the legislation is passed, you will be forced to take that choice. If you don't hand in your weapons, then you are against 'us' as you wish to live as a known criminal in a law abidning society. It will not matter what your race, sex, politics, religion, age, skin color or profession. You are either law abiding or not and law breakers will be punished [insert sanction here]. Those that go down fighting will receive no acknowledgement, accolade or thanks, only an inevitable end. They will just be a statistic to reinforce the benefits for the law abiders of living gun free. In ten years everybody (left) will have got used to it and then we'll see the true nature of the American public. So, Rambo, before your pulse rate explodes, think hard, bullets make your eyes water. One way or another, your type will become dinosaurs - and they went extinct. |

Since this post represents both sides of the argument, surrender rights for "safety" OR keep the rights and be individually responsible, I want to share a blog post with you. Steve Elliot writes "Letters to Exiles". I read it whenever he makes a post. He's a smart guy. Here is his latest concerning the recent shooting and his, as always in my opinion, rational and spot on interpretation of events. What Just Happened…. Quoting: Letters to ExilesPosted on December 17, 2012 by Steve Elliott I will make no attempt to “make sense” of the horrific tragedy that devastated the community of Newtown, Connecticut, and has shaken our nation. <snip> What we face is more like a cancer than a virus. Our society has turned on itself and these mass murders are the shocking fruit. The perpetrators of these crimes now typically turn the weapons on themselves and have essentially become societal suicide bombers. As the military knows, there is no real defense against a suicide bomber who has reached such a point of desperation and delusion that his own life does not matter. Responding to this specific crisis with legislation would be a mistake that politicians will likely make. Responding to the root cause of the crisis would be a better way to go. And what is that root cause? The destruction of the family. I’m not discounting any other factors, but to address problems with our mental health institutions or virtual reality gaming or the drugging of our children or our gun laws or the media culture’s glorification of such violence without dealing with the root cause of our societal decay are vain attempts to mask symptoms. You can read the rest at the link below. The destruction of the family has happened in my lifetime and I've watched it happen and wondered why people would allow society or government to destroy the very foundations of what makes our Constitution work - the family.
