Theory about TITANIC movie

It hit me one day the although the popular belief is that the rich men were denying the ship could sink while they were in the bar, they were in fact drawing straws to see who would play the "coward rich man" every time a boat left.

Seems to me that men of accomplishment would see the reason to not send a boat of women and children alone into the ocean while at the same time keeping the other men on deck from rushing the lifeboats by allowing the crew to humiliate them publically as cowards.

I thought of this after remembering that the feature films on the carnival cruise i took were The Edge, G.I Jane, and Titanic. Strange lineup of films for a pleasure cruise, maybe a form of morale boost or prep in case of disaster?
