Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26626393 The side affects go away after 2 - 4 weeks. The more you sweat, the more water you drink and the healthier you eat the faster this will happen. The best thing to do is stay busy and don't hang out with friends who smoke. Experts claim the best way to not have Marijuana withdrawal is to take constant smoke/tolerance breaks. Quitting smoking pot is a mind game... If you want to stop smoking you won't have withdrawal... The way you will feel after 2 weeks of not smoking will REALLY impress you. There is NO SUCH THING as MJ "withdrawal" because pot doesn't create a physical dependency. I have been a daily smoker for four years and stopped last week cold turkey, not because I want to, fuck no, I love pot, but because I am a seasonal employee and the drop in funds doesn't help. I am not having "withdrawals" from not smoking pot. I am not craving pot like I would a cig. Stop spreading bullshit. |

The longest I've gone since I have started smoking was 8 months. Personally the only reason I want to quit is so I can get a better job and not have to worry about getting arrested for a victimless crime. Dreams are my problem, I have always had a very vivid imagination, and when I sleep my dreams become so real that it effects me in a very bad way. When I use marijuana it blocks my memory of all dreams, allowing for a peaceful sleep. |

I've been using marijuana for five years. When I stopped smoking marijuana I felt small withdraws for a couple weeks. Now they are not as terrible as withdraws from tobacco, alcohol or hard drugs, but they were still there. It included: Terrible dreams. Lack of sleep. Paranoia. Craving Marijuana. Irritability. Mood Swings. |

Kelp will nourish your thyroid gland which in turn will activate your pituitary gland, hence lowering your tolerance for weed. While your doing that, start running every day, 15 -20 minutes is enough. Most importantly ask your higher power for the strength to do it. You will succeed. |
ac User ID: 30217628 New Zealand 12/18/2012 04:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I stopped smoking weed on 17 November - was going on overseas holiday so had no choice. I have been a heavy user for around 30 years (wake n bake). Whilst away no problem as I was busy taking in new surroundings - 2.5weeks later and I back home and the withdrawal symptoms have set it. For me they include massive sweating - throbbing kidneys - extreme dreams and nausea. I intend to put up with these until they go as I want to be "awake" and enjoy the rest of my life. Interestingly I am having no trouble sleeping - the opposite in fact - I am sleeping 12 hours at night and wanting naps in the afternoon. I think my body is just relieved I have made this decision. My advice: Find new interests - walking or exercise in some form - sweat it out - replace off course with lots and lots of water. Cranberry juice good for kidney clense - you will need to replace potassium (lost in sweating) and foods high in K are green leafy vegetables and tomatoes - I have been craving roast tomato soup and now I know why. I have experienced no craving - not like nicotine so would suggest the craving/addiction aspect could be 99% in your mind - and no wonder you keep thinking about it as you have been doing it awhile. Be kind to yourself and good luck my friend. All the best |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 30218403 Australia 12/18/2012 05:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I can't get any at the moment so I had to quit. The things I liked doing while having a relaxing smoke are not as entertaining now because the weed gave me the ability to focus on details for long periods, with enjoyment. I will come back to smoking because it is better than alcohol, which I drink a lot more of now. Alcohol has its upsides, but the downsides are far worse. I'd love a cone or three, kick back, work on some projects, get the munchies, watch a movie. Just chill. You cannot do that with alcohol. It will take a few days to get the 'need a cone' feeling out of your system. Boredom will be a big problem. I drank and it's a crutch, not a very good one, but it works. Weed is great. Just take a break for a while with the knowledge that you can if you choose, return some time in the future. To an old friend. |

I like cathinones and a legal version is Wellbutirin. This will take your compulsions to smoke away, give you energy and motivation, and address the depression you are prob self medicating for. This is not an SSRI, but rather a stimulent albeit a very light one. |

That's your own stupid personality, probably why you started smoking pot in the first place. Guess what cures all those things even if you never smoked pot before? POT. Dumbass. I havent had cravings I havent had mood swings I have had sleeping problems, but thats because I always have, even before smoking pot. How the fuck could you be paranoid being off thc? go see a shrink man. not "withdrawal" Lmfao |

That's what I do now. I used to smoke almost everyday. I broke my pipe. My friends who still smoke have actually started to just smoke on weekends. Find joy in the day ahead and you may not feel the need, the need for weed. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 20319056 United States 12/18/2012 07:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's all mental and of course you'll feel like you want/need it if you surround yourself with it all day. Been pretty much smoking all day everyday for the past year and I stopped at the beginning of this month. I actually realized that I was smoking on my electronic cigarette way too much and quit that as well. Just gotta have the will power for the first few days to just say no and then from there it's been a breeze, find myself not even thinking about it the entire day. Besides i've known for the longest time that weed 9 times out of 10 makes me hypersensitive to everyone and everything and I was literally lying to myself to continue smoking it. So it's just not for me anymore, at least not right now. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 27178693 Netherlands 12/18/2012 07:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You developed pot smoking to a level it's mentally strong as nicotine to quit. It's the same, after 3 days the lust to smoke pot is reduced and it will be easier. Those 3 days will be hell though and the only thing I can advice you is to take a vacation, work out, and have people around you who dont smoke pot. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 30225029 United Kingdom 12/18/2012 07:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I STOPPED SMOKING POT AROUND 15 YEARS AGO, DUE TO CHASING THE DRAGON. THE FEELING WAS SO MUCH BETTER BUT I KNEW THE DAY AFTER ON THE CRAVINGS THAT I COULDNT CARRY ON OR I WOULD BE AN ADDICT SO I LOCKED MYSELF IN THE HOUSE AND THAT WAS THAT. LOADS OF COFFEE AND CIGARETTES!!! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26678936 Ok, I'm a heavy smoker and it didn't take anything at all for me to quit. Just stop its only mentally addictive. You will start to remember your dreams too. It's not addictive if you want your life on track stop being a dumbass and just put it down for a while. I strongly suggest only taking a break from it and slowly getting back into it though, your tolerance falls pretty fast. |

I think its because the product is high CBD. Straight CBD can stop all your withdrawl problems , without any high. Its derived from hemp and available in a liquid. I think a previous poster from Amsterdam mentioned it as well. The science: [link to projectcbd.org] |

I smoke a ton of weed myself and when im out between harvests i just read more or something. Also the you smoke so much you dont get high.. been there done that change strains or take a few days of rest from the pipe or bong. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30107588 Thats what it seems to be like for the tokers around here. They smoke it when it is there and don't if it is not. I am not sure that I understand this idea that quiting pot is difficult. But then I have never quit, I just go for periods of months and sometimes even years between toking. Maybe it is different depending on sex, age and maybe even pot strains available. |
