Its been going on in the msm for a number of years now, anytime we you hear 'submit your photos' the second you do this you're waiving your rights away to the TV company who then own that picture as regulated copyright.

It doesn't matter if in 15 years that same picture sells for 250k, you won't see a penny of it.

I sense a bit of hypocrisy here. We complain about losing our privacy with Instagram, yet we happily download free porn pics from the net even though they are someone else's property.

I like that smile...it's super hawt.

So basically someone can take a picture with you in it and you may not even know the photographer or know that you were snapped in a photo. Then it's uploaded to instagram by the photographer someone can buy it and next thing you know YOUR PERSONS in posted on some brochure somewhere or worse, posted as a negative type thing...YOU the person used in a fight obesity campaign with your pic in docs offices and schools everywhere.

Just great.

If you seriously believe that a photo you've taken is worthy of commercial use you never upload the original to the internet.

I hope Facebook/Instagram understands that under UK/EU/US law any photography with a recognisable face, where the person is the focus of the image (rather than, say a crowd of people in a picture of a street), requires a model release to have been signed. If the person is under 18 (here in the UK at least) there also needs to be the signature of a parent/legal guardian.

I think Facebook is setting itself up for a lot of problems here.
