It's a steady rhythm so that eliminates the fire possibility. In fact in order to illuminate that large piece of cloud you will need a massive area of fire on the ground. That's a lot of controlled power parked either on the ground or illuminated the clouds from inside

Hi guys,

I live in mandurah which is south of rockingam it is a small city not sure of the population. In any case the whole sky was an orange colour and it was reasonably light outside for circa 10:00pm. There appeared to be clouds but it was hard to see the type of cloud and there was no break in the clouds. I have looked everywhere for an explanation on the web but I have not found one. When I do I will post it up but there were no fires in the area.

Mandurah is on the coast and is not the outback as has been suggested.

Yeah I'm on the coast of Canada I've seen a golden version of this multiple times in the direction of the water.

There were NO fires. The Collie bush fire was an Alert that's all. These are common with very small scrub fires. Collie is over 100 k'ms from Rocky and there is no way even a larger fire could have produced that light from that distance away.
I don't know what it was, but it wasn't a bush fire, that's for sure.
Although there is a BP refinery at Kwinana so perhaps it was that.

That's because the map is for WA only. Fires in other territories aren't displayed.
Every territory has it's own department with it's map.

Its a Oil Refinery,got the same over here great sight when cloud is low.

ffs , this glow was no where near the kwinana refinery ! stop sayin it might be a refinery or fire geez , i live in rocko so i can tell you straight up......NO FIRE < NO REFINERY ! FFS

the whole bloody sky was illuminated and there was no moon out , i have never seen this glow coming from the SSW direction before , like a sunrise at midnight !

It is a confirmed brush fire ya moran.

I looked at the Fire Alert site for the area and the only fire they had was a small fire in a national forest. Not big enough to cause that sort of glow.

Ok, so in entire Pert's region there is just one small fire right?
