I don't have my picture taken often, since I'm usually the one behind the camera, but there are at least five or six taken within the last few years. So yeah, lots of fake stuff going on here. Open your eyes.

As far as his mom goes, she had been divorced a while. If she wasn't taking pictures of herself, and it is doubtful Adam was taking them, then it isn't that odd.

The pictures of them are older pictures because they were a family then, so there was more opportunity to be in a picture.

Pictures are mostly taken by family members during happy moments, so if Nancy was having trouble with Adam, it isn't likely she would have him pose for a quick snapshot.

You're right. Hate having pics taken but due to everybody having cell phones a friend or family member is sometimes snapping one. Especially at holidays and there are plenty of those.
