How your guns will be confiscated
How Will They Confiscate Your Guns?

by John A. Sutter
in California

For decades I have heard gun owners claim that the government would never be able to confiscate our firearms because the government would lose too many men. The implication being, of course, that gun owners would actively resist confiscation, even to the point of shooting back. But I believe this thinking is outdated and doesn’t align very well with reality. But before you tell me how big your honor guard in Hell will be when that day comes, let’s think about how the government could really do it.

Suppose, for the sake of argument, the government bans all civilian possession of firearms at the end of this month. Congress passes a total ban and the President cuts his own re-election throat by signing it. Gun owners get some grace period to turn them in, even beyond the deadline, without being charged with a crime. If we use Australia and Britain as examples there will still be a significant number of firearms that are not turned in. Some estimates put the Australian turn-in at less than 25% and the British faired only about 28%. But Australians and the British have long been used to obeying almost every gun control law. Not so the Americans. When laws are passed that we don’t like, we bite. We scratch. We vote. So here we sit after the guns have been collected and the amnesties have run out. Now what? Send out the personnel carriers, swat and shock troops to seize the guns from those militia “terrorists” who refused to turn them in? Don’t be silly.

The government has lots of records about you. If you purchased a firearm since 1968, chances are that they have some record of it somewhere. Most likely, it will take quite some time for them to compile all the serial numbers of “surrendered” guns (surrendered essentially at gunpoint) and cross off the ones you turned in. It’ll take more time for them to attempt to “clean up” their data. Say, about two years, maybe three. Add to that the hordes of people keypunching in hundreds of thousands of sales and registration records from hundreds of gun stores forced out of business. At some point the government decides they have something approaching a “good” database of unaccounted-for guns.

The next thing you’ll get from the government is an official looking notice that they think you still have a firearm. Their information will probably include all the information from registration forms, right down to the serial number. That notice will tell you that you’re in violation of the law, subject to prosecution and imprisonment. It will give you some period of time to surrender the gun. It will also give you a very limited number of days to return the form with an explanation of why you don’t have the gun, any proof you have, and your signature that the gun was lawfully disposed of. For many people the idea that the government “knows” they didn’t turn in that pistol or rifle and they have the detailed information about it will be enough to get them to surrender the gun. Some people will ignore the letter, others will scrawl a note that “I sold this in 1982 in a private sale”. After some time, the government will figure out how many guns are still out there and what the “compliance rate” is with the gun ban. More importantly, they’ll start sorting their database by the number of guns someone supposedly has “unaccounted”.

Re: How your guns will be confiscated
I'm going to post this here once. I could start my own thread but I got lambasted by gunowners for suggesting an alternative to losing our guns the other day, so those who happen across it, good for you.

about 6 years ago I started working at a large machine shop. This shop had many CNC mills, lathes and machining centers.. About 4 years ago a large gun manufacturer came needing help in keeping up with demand. Many of the components we made were for AR rifles. Mostly trigger components, picatinny rails and such. No lower or upper receivers.

during this time I worked closely with the son of the current president of the company. He is a mechanical engineer, as am I. He came by often for quality control inspections and even helped programming of the machines. We are the same age. Anyway, we hit it off and he invited me to the headquartes several times where he showed me new products and we talked about guns. We ended up, over the past years becoming good friends.

recently we were bowling together and talk turned to Obama and gun sales, which I know are through the roof. I asked him about the future of his family company and when he'd be talking the helm.. He said that "there will be no company to inherit."

he then proceeded to tell me this: about 2 years ago Obama had a closed door session with all of the heads of the gun companies in the US. He gave them an ultimatum. They had 2 to 3 years to make as much money as possible, after that their sales strategies were going to go through a major shift. Manufacturing would shift from semi-auto rifles to single shot hunting rifles. This would drive many of them out of business.

some asked how he planned on doing this, and he said that it will happen. He suggested that the 2nd amendment applies to the national guard only and was never truly meant for the average citizen.. He said there would be new taxes levied on gun owners, making gun ownership very expensive. Yearly registrations, and liscensing was possible.

he then proceeded to explain that most gun sales are to repeat buyers. That many AR sales are by people who own 15 to 20 of these style rifles and that many are being bought on credit. That these people don't have the financial means to afford these firearms but are going into deep debt to buy them.. These people are mentally I'll and this addiction is similar to a drug or porn addiction.

this is my recap of what my friend told me. Now here's why I post this now. I just read that cerberus is selling off Freedom Group. If you don't know what that means, Freedom Group is the largest gun manufacturing company in the US right now.. Yearly sales approach 1 billion dollars! And they're selling!

my friend said that one CEO asked how they think they could pull this off and the response was that public opinion was changing and would continue to change.

I own several "assault" weapons. Sadly, this is it.

All this would do is create a massive black market so people could acquire unregistered weapons. People would begin manufacturing gun parts and ammo in their basements just like moonshiners did during prohibition. Plus, the stupid feds can't even keep 20 million illegal aliens and / or hundreds of tons of illegal drugs out of the country. How would thy ever keep guns or gun parts out? Combine that with the fact that crime rates would soar because the country's dirtbags couldn't care less about laws and would prey on the innocent like never before. These feds that can't even coordinate between agencies to find out if you've paid a parking ticket are going to assemble and monitor this huge database of compliance that covers 300 million people and have the physical resources to follow up out in the field with individual citizens? Right!

I'm the guy with the friend. I have to go to work and our ip address at work is blocked. I haven't talked to my friend, I just saw on reuters that cerberus is selling freedom group, a very profitable company. This does not make sense for an investment group to sell an extremely profitable company unless they got a heads up that it's time.

I'll e-mail my friend from work.

in order for the US to comply with UN laws we must disarm. That's the way it's going.. I don't agree but that's where we're being steered.

People who are used to continual self reporting for taxation have been conditioned to know there is a vast amount of information they have about you, which they will use against you. People feel the eyes of the government on them all the time. Income tax reporting has created this situation and the gun confiscators will take advantage of it. The people can not and will not resist gun confiscation any more than they can refuse to pay their taxes, without knowledge of consequences. The only possibility for the individual state is secession. And that will not happen because there is no legal mechanism for friendly separation in the US federal legal framework. Therefore any state that does declare it is seceding will be subject to war. And the only way that will not happen is if every single military person refuses to make war upon themselves. We know that will not happen because to get men to fight you only need make up a story they will believe and put them in the right place with loaded weapons. In the US it will always be easy to get soldiers from completely different places to oppress the people, just like Rome did.

So the UN treaty is signed and Obama ushers UN "peacekeepers" into the US to disarm its citizens? Or the UN gets together and applies massive economic sanctions against the US until its citizens comply? Ain't nobody got time for that. However, I can see that as right up Obama's alley, possibly why he was installed in the first place. America's gun owners are the last sentries to what is left of the "free world".

The UN uses methods learned from Rome. Move soldiers away from their homes to new districts where everyone is a stranger. Never deploy a force of one group against their kind. Use A to oppress B and B to oppress C and C to oppress A. But never A to oppress A or B to oppress B.

from the official list, a list will be compiled, and those peoples homes will be robbed, and all guns taken

why confront when all that is needed is for you to go to work, and they come in.

that then also drives people to the "help us save us oh great gov't"

then the door slams shut, and people are "like wtf???, how did that happen"

Here are the simple facts in plain speech:

1. You will not be allowed to own ANY military grade weapons, only hunting rifles and self-defense handguns.

2. You will be charged annual fees for EACH firearm you own.

3. You will NOT be raided by commandos, but you will be fined by the IRS until you can prove that you are in compliance with the law.

4. If you end up using a firearm (for self defense), and have not paid the annual fees, you will be subject to criminal and/or monetary penalties.

5. Any attempt to sell or purchase firearms will require extensive reporting to state and federal agencies.

There will be no one for you to shoot. No one will come to get your guns. You will turn them in voluntarily, or you will have the IRS take your home, your property, or your wages.

I have heard that they will give us 24-48 hours to turn in our weapons, after that, the UN Troops will be brought in. They do not intend to use Military or Police forces from America as they are loyal to American's no the Government. Obama knows this.

There are major changes coming to this Country, and I forsee us in a war on American soil very soon. They will cut off our power and water, food supplies etc. It will not be good. I posted a thread many many months ago warning about this day, and now it is here. As with that post, I am now saying that we will be at war in America, and we will be.

Our constitution is being trampled on, Obama hates democracy, he is a Socialist. Free speach is nearly gone, guns are on their way out "legally". Next come the fema camps and somewhere in between comes the war against the Government. These forces will not be American forces, our Veterans and current Military personnel hold much of the private weapons in America and they are not planning on giving up their weapons without a fight.

We are at a turning point in America's history/future, are we seriously going to let Obama take away our weapons? I think not. It is also our constitutional right to throw off any government that oppresses its people. American's are so oppressed right now that most of them cannot even see that it is happening.
