| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1055574 12/18/2012 09:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If we're ever going to have any kind of rational discussion about this, we need to all be on the same page on what we're actually talking about. If you insist on being part of these threads about gun control, at least educate yourself first so you don't look like a complete idiot. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 628775 12/18/2012 09:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For once I almost agree with O'Reilly. Quoting: jadksn 9544901 Police don't need assault rifles, The National Guard don't need assault rifles, SWAT don't need assault rifles. But they all have them, and that's why citizens should be permitted to have them. Many innocent people have been murdered in cold blood by people we put our trust, faith, and taxes in this year. Don't forget that. Any day now, an off-duty cop might decide to come in your house through your doggy door just because he knows he'll get away with it if you decide to protect yourself. Nullifying the above statement is easy. All the assault weapons out there have not prevented the many unjustified cop killings that we have seen the past year or so. |

What do you people need assault rifles for? I second that one :) What does one need a blender/mixer for? You can use a spoon. It's circle jerk logic. The above poster who gave the Koreatown story from LA; that's exactly why they are needed. And they are not "assault rifles", anyway. They are semi-auto rifles. |
| Black Diamond User ID: 30102670 12/18/2012 09:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It was the second amendment. This amendment is on the top of the list of our bill of rights. It is about the citizen, the common man, to have enough fire power to fight the government if need be. It is not about hunting or having a little gun that could not help the citizen fight . The founding fathers took up state of the art weaponry and kicked England's ass. If you want gun control, go to England and live. They still don't have guns over there. |

Semi_auto rifles are. A .223 cal or 7.62x.39mm does not make an "assault rifle". The lemmings are easily led by these incidents thru emotion. |

Just as a woman doesn't need a coach handbag, she wants one. A single shot shotgun does the same thing as an ak47, shoots bullets. You don't need an ak47, you want one. We have just as many guns up here per capita and yet we have many fewer incidents of mass shootings. Why? |

Well, I don't see that working for ya at all. No one NEEDS an ak47. Wants and needs are two different things. The same can be argued for the police in America who are keen on using their firearms without discretion. Guns in homes DO stop crimes. A few months ago a 90 year old vet from my hometown shot a robbing thug as he was making his way down to the room the old-timer was staying in. Anyways, it's a pain in the ass getting a gun legally in America. We've already got "gun control". Look up the stats though, the majority of gun crimes were committed with firearms that were acquired illegally. No one needs a connection to the internet either, but who am I to tell you what to spend your money on? |

Of course. A person breaking into your home is a violent criminal, and should be dealt with as such. Which happens daily in the US, and lawful gun owners act appropriately. |
