I knew this would happen :) I posted the other day about my daughters being upset at seeing AR15s at our local Walmart, and I wrote Walmart corporate and called to complain. I'm happy to see this!

Damn , clicked on the link, I guess they've just taken it off of walmart.com. However, I'm confident they will be out of the stores soon too, the person I spoke to on the phone said that they are "strongly considering" taking AR15s and other semi-autos out of their stores.

THIS IS THE WILD, WILD WEST! It's still the leading edge of America, and we do need guns for many reasons, including control of dangerous animals - two and four legged. Snakes too on occasion. It so happens the the "assault rifle" configuration is idea for getting quick shots from a long gun in sequence against an unwanted imtruder.

Walmart is the farthest thing from a progressive liberal organization there is. You only have to look at how they treat their employees to know that. Hell, they were just threatening to cut off all vacations & benefits if workers unionized.

The *only* thing Walmart cares about is profits and squelching competition from local businesses in markets they serve. The real reason they took these guns off the shelves is to keep the public from turning against them in their most profitable season. They'll most likely put them back on the shelves later on in Jan, once the uproar settles down and people become distracted by something else.

I agree. Boycott Walmart until they pull all of the semi-automatic weapons off their shelves. I know many who agree with me. Wall Mart has a right to sell whatever they want. Or to not sell something.

But with the latest word that Wall Mart may be actively promoting gun regulation they are stepping out of the business world and into the political world. If they really speak out on gun laws then I would agressively promote a boycott.
