As a young boy I went to catholic church every Sunday, it did not do much to instil the love of God within me, it was a very solemn atmosphere. Basically we were taught to be fearful of God and if you don't love him he will burn you. We had to go to confession and the priest would absolve you of your sins (I was only 7 so I had to make some sins up because I hadn't actually committed any) then the priest told me to recite 10 Hail Marys as penance. As far as I know Judaism, Islam and Christianity all stem from the same religion, they worship the same God but look we are all killing each other, Christians are even killing other Christians because of minor differences in their church. It seems that religion will be the death of us all, all because of stupid stories about promised lands and chosen peoples. There are certain religious people who I truly respect, take the Amish for instance, at least they practice what they preach and live a natural life in harmony with nature and other people. For the most part, and no disrespect to you, religious people are hypocrites. Hopefully the Amish will start a crusade. lol the Amish crusade I appreciate your testimony about your upbringing... and I don't blame you for your skepticism. But I assure you that those who believe in Jesus Christ do not have killing in their hearts... Jesus taught us to love one another... His sacrifice for us was a perfect example. All over the world to this day and throughout history you see mass murders of Christians. These people are not fighting back. People are offended that others believe in Jesus Christ... not that Christians are hurting others (because its against their beliefs). Soon the Lord will come to take his people home as he has promised... please to not be left behind for the tribulation to come. By "Lord" I assume you mean Jesus. I don't need Jesus to take me home I know my own way home. I am not offended by others believing that Jesus will save them, but find it absurd that grown adults (even well educated ones) still believe these preposterous stories. Imagine if from when you were young you were read Harry Potter books, and were told that Harry will save you in the end times and that if you refuse to believe Harry is your savior Voldemort will take you to his lair of eternal damnation, you'd believe if it was repeated enough times. It seems that this is what has happened with Christians, same as Tanna Island, a man turns up there in an airplane, they think this is magic so they deify him, generations on they still believe because the elders created a religion based upon it, so now the mans son (Prince Phillip) is worshiped as the son of God. Same thing with Jesus, he performed a few conjuring tricks people were primitive then and word got around that he was somehow special, the stories have been repeated and embellished over the centuries and are now taken by many as the truth. It's fine to believe in a creator as that is plausible even scientifically, but "Magical Bearded Death Defying Bread Multiplying Sons Of God?" Come on, get real. If have seen no convincing evidence that points to Jesus being anything other than a plain garden variety Homosapien. |
