Lots of ultraconservative evangelical fundamentalist types don't think Catholics (or moderate to liberal Protestants) are "true" or "real" Christians. Also, Christianity is currently the largest, but it isn't growing much at all, relative to the expanding total global populace. Islam remains in second place now, but it seems to be growing at a considerably faster rate than Christianity. Estimates vary, but some have predicted that if current growth rates continue, Islam might become the largest religion in the world before this century is out. |
