It is believed to be the first time a monarch has attended peace-time cabinet since George III in 1781. George I ceased to chair cabinet in 1717. The Queen's father, King George VI, attended war cabinet during the Second World War. [link to www.bbc.co.uk] DefenceToday.com [link to twitter.com (secure)] |

Hey idiots, that ain't her for starters, she is past done and she has always taken interest in world government under Rome. She technically still sits I guess at the head of the committee of 300 which controls the global Federal Reserve. She simply governs behind the scenes. I have seen papers with her signature issued by the committee of 300. |

It is about time. Hopefully she is doing this to reestablish the right. A large part of Britain's postwar slide into its current state, is because the most conservative force in the country has not been in the habit of giving a little direction, or of expressing displeasure at some changes. If you have a system set up as a monarchy, then the monarch has several duties to the people. One of those is to slow down change so that its affects can be seen measured, assessed and undesirable consequences avoided. The current monarchy in Britain has failed in this duty. |

George III was king during the American Revolution, and although he was from the House of Hanover, he was born in England and spoke perfect English. "George was a talented student, quickly learning to speak French, German and Italian in addition to his native English.[5]" [link to en.wikipedia.org] Yeah it stopped with George I as he was Hanoverian and didnt understand English, not George IV Good point, i got my George's mixed up. [link to www.royal.gov.uk] George I spoke German and French and a little English; he regularly visited Hanover to fulfil his duties there. Family tensions (George imprisoned his wife in 1694) and political intrigue (opposition gathered round the Prince of Wales) led to differences and intense dislike between George and his son, George. Unfamiliar with the customs of the country and lacking fluent English, George was dependent on his ministers - the Whigs dominated Parliament during his reign. After 1717, George rarely attended Cabinet meetings. This allowed the Cabinet to act collectively and formulate policies, which, provided they were backed by a majority in the Commons, the king was usually powerless to resist. |
