I love how americans just can't believe things may be seeming a little weird in other countries. This is not normal, she has never done this before so why start now. It's the timing and we all know the important stuff gets said in private.

it means ,since the queens is still head of the government, thats something is up
something that requires the say so of the queen
when a primeminister says he is going to call an elecetion he has to go and ask the queen
if a new minister is elected he has to go and see the queen

for her to be in a cabinet meeting would mean she needs t o see the whole cabinet so it means something dramatic
something that requires something bigger than a declaration of war
in the end the queens in charge as the govenment works in the queens name everything the govenment prints etc has the queens crest on it,her pictures on money lol

in the last 200 there hasnt been a big enough even for her needing to see the cabint

that assuming you dont beleve shes bothering to go and pick up a gift lmao

OMG! She received place mats! There has never been a surer sign the end is near than being the recipient of 60 place mats!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2327940

Elizabeth became Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Ceylon upon the death of her father, George VI, on 6 February 1952. As other colonies of the British Empire (now the Commonwealth of Nations) attained independence from the UK during her reign, she acceded to the newly created thrones as Queen of each respective realm so that throughout her 54 years on the throne she has been Monarch of 32 nations, half of which either moved to different royal houses, or became republics.

She's also the ruler of the Isle of Man, the Bailiwick of Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey, Alderney and Sark (+5)

She's the Lord of Man on the Isle of Man, and the Duke of Normandy in the others. Head of State nontheless. (She's also Duke of Lancaster - note not Duchess in either title. The Loyal Toast in Lancashire is 'Her Majesty the Queen, Duke of Lancaster; in the Channel Isles is 'La Reine, notre Duc'.)(+1)

May I add: Queen Elizabeth II is also "Great Chief " of Fiji, but still not the formal head of this state. (+1)

so 39 place mats for 39 "countries". The rest of the 60 probably come from ones that have been relinquished in the past or are for 21 new ones to come.

Thank you for explaining that to me. I always wondered what the role of the queen was. Seriously.

As far as I can make out she's still monarch by Divine Right, and is now monarch by consent or agreement of parliament.
Britain is allegedly a Constitutional Monarchy, but the "constitution" is implicit in English Common Law which is statuary law by established by precedent, and not binding.
It's a Parliamentary Monarchy.
And,I think, feudal law still applies.
It's difficult to decypher Lawspeak sometimes.

Well, all the Commonwealth countries.
In the early 70's the Prime Minister of Australia was dismissed by the Governor General, the queen's representative,on fairly spurious grounds, putting paid to the the idea that the man democratically elected was actually in charge.
And if a cetain school of thought is right, then the US Corporation also makes Americans chattels to the same Person via the City of London.
Personally I find this mindboggling, insane and unbelievable.
However... looking out the window I see a world which IS mindboggling, insane and unbelievable.1dunno1

Don't you see HOW SERIOUS is this?

FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1781, a monarch of England took part in a GOVERNMENT meeting!!!

Just 3 days before the End of the Mayan calendar!!

Read:

Part of Antarctica is to be named Queen Elizabeth Land in honour of the Queen, it was announced as she made a historic visit to Downing Street.

She is the first monarch since 1781 - during the US war of independence - to attend a cabinet meeting.

She met ministers, who gave her a set of 60 place mats, to mark her Diamond Jubilee after 60 years on the throne.

The Queen joined the cabinet while they were updated on a range of forthcoming parliamentary business.

After leaving Downing Street she went with Foreign Secretary William Hague to the Foreign Office, where it was announced that the southern part of the British Antarctic Territory had been named.

The territory, covering 169,000 sq miles - almost twice the size of the UK - was previously unnamed, the Foreign Office said.

"This is a fitting tribute at the end of Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee year, and I am very proud to be able to announce it as she visits the Foreign and Commonwealth Office," Mr Hague said.
