Instagram/facebook Can Sell Users' Photos Without Notice
The updated terms of service also state the company will "not be liable for any use or disclosure of any content you provide" - a sentence which seems designed to immunise Facebook from any legal proceedings, such as class action lawsuits.

Users cannot opt out of having their pictures sold, unless that is they delete their accounts ahead of the new terms of service coming into effect next month.

If I had an account I would delete it before facebook gets your stuff and sells it.

Of course, this may be a ploy to get people to delete their accounts, thereby minimizing the overwhelming amount of potential whistleblowers on any given future event....?

I've heard my friends saying that it won't even let you delete your photos if you are using the older version of instagram! it forces to you to update... I'm guessing thats so you can sign up to their new terms of service!

Thanks for the headsup. I cancelled my account a year ago, but family members have a ton of pictures posted.

This is not in compliance with (label) law in most countries I suppose and facebook won't succeed with this.

Read this on BBC, if Instagram sell your photo(s), you get NO money what so ever. You don't even get a penny for your photo.

So if you download a song, or quote more than half of an article, you can be sued for copyright infringement. Even the Feds enforce this, eh?

However, if these companies take what belongs to you and sells it for their own profit, without permission, and without giving your royalties on your property, it's all legal?

Hmmm...

If you don't pay for the service then you're the product. The same is true with youtube putting ads in your video.

Your the money making machine, even all you freeloaders out their who love a free product. You have been sold many times like a hooker but you never got paid for it!

even if you delete your account, all you did was get rid of YOUR access to it. facebook keeps the information for as long as they want.

i know 1 person who deleted their account for 2 years.
then they started it up again and all the information was still there.

Well "they" did already cash out their shares, but it's such a great tool for law enforcement and who knows who. I know a woman who knows someone who gets her anyone's FB password she wants. I am not kidding. Wish I were.
