In Calif when they Banned High capacity Mags You just could not buy them any more. I do not remember them asking people to turn them in. However remember the Bank shoot-out in LA, also anyone caught in the commision of a crime using a HCM is in deep crap, or if the Police raid your home for what ever reason and they find some they had better be pre ban, (they did not say for Law enforcementor/Military Use) on the bottom. Pre ban had nothing printed on the bottom.

But there are so many rules out here it is hard to keep track of. Ex post Facto also plays a part.

I've been hunting many times with various scary black guns. There are varmit models for small long range critters and there are hog busting .450 caliber models for hunting that 300# feral pig. The .308 is perfect for white tail deer. There are also target models specifically designed for sillouette competitions.

The AR-15 and it's clones are the most popular rifle in the US. And not without reason. Just sayin'....

They aren't just for the army any more.

Laws legally cannot be retroactive according to the constitution. But, we know how much they follow that old "obsolete" document.

2) What if I run across a deal on a rare gun I've wanted for years, but just also purchased a .22 Single Six for my daughter?

5) I can easily run through 1000 rounds in a day. Sometimes more, depending on what I'm shooting and what range I visit. What's too much?

6) laser sights are WAY over rated. But why ban them? Holographic sights are EXCELLENT hunting tools; quick target aquisition.

The proposals have been ready and waiting for a long time. They whip them out every excuse they get. You can expect something along the lines of the Clinton gun bans (capacity, method of fire) but two things stand in the way of any new significant gun ban becoming law.

1. Time. It will be about a month before congress even can get around to debating anything and that is time that will allow emotional knee jerk reactions to both cool off and get gun owner's to call their reps opposing it.

2. The House is more pro-gun now than it was when the Clinton gun ban or the Brady bill was passed and in both cases the next congressional election saw a bloodletting of Democrats they have never forgotten. It is more of a third rail in politics than Social Security.

I should probably give up trying to predict what the criminal, NWO, Washington DC, forked-tongued, double snake head congress will or won’t do, but my guess is near nothing because the House won’t allow it. Remember, we went through the same thing with Columbine, and Aurora, and the Giffords pre-planned fiasco. The only thing that happened after those events was that states expanded carry laws to make it easier for people to defend themselves without worrying that they would be treated like the criminals that attacked them.

The end result may be that Obama directs the BATFE try to re-word regulations to rule by fiat. A dictator is gonna do what a dictator is gonna do.

fwiw, they tried this in Canada, which is smaller and filled with people who trust government more than the US

it turned out to be expensive and never was fully implemented

this last year, they finally gave up on it, but hey, why should that stop us, right?

I hope the house kills any gun ban legislation, but I have seen some Republicans sounding like liberals this last weekend.
