Re: GUN CONTROL,. WHAT WILL THE NEW PROPOSED LAWS BE?
I just received this email from change.org about signing some gun control petitions. The email campaigns have begun now.

Here's the email and links they sent me.

"As Americans process the grief, fear, and anger stemming from last Friday's tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, many are calling for action. In response to the shooting, more than 1,000 people -- including many in and around Newtown -- started petitions on Change.org, calling for tighter gun laws, stronger mental health services, and support for the victims' families.

Here are a few petitions calling for meaningful action in response to the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School. You can click here to browse and sign other petitions started in response to the tragedy in Newtown."

Kate, I read your posts here and I like you, but honestly having lived in both countries I have to say Canada is quite different from the US on this issue

I do not see why Canadians are personally so active in attempting to change US policies, as Americans do not get involved in attempting to set policy in Canada (screw what our government does, and I know they get involved influencing policies around the world. I'm talking about individuals)

If Americans started getting busy signing petitions to change the laws and policies in Canada, I think Canadians would be right to say "bugger off"

Not picking a fight with you on other issues...just bringing it up in regards to this

This is a uniquely American argument and no doubt it will get very heated in coming weeks and months.

It wasn't until I lived in Canada that I realized how different we really are in some respects

Unless you were raised here and really have thought at length about the Constitution, pondered the intention of the founding fathers and the implications for the type of government we wish to have, you cannot really understand, although I'm sure you have the best of motives and your heart is in the right place

Ummm, I just received an email and was sharing it with you guys, what you do in your country is your business, I'm against gun control in Canada btw.

These emails are sent to people in all countries from that website, maybe I signed some petition once and they had my email address? 1dunno1

The petitions were all made by Americans to send to your government and one the CEO of Walmart. Just a heads up of what is circulating to peoples emails right now and Americans are signing the petitions and even threatening to not shop at stores (Walmart) that carry weapons. Go read the comments on the petitions.

Here's a comment from someone in Utah:

"Let's commit to not buying ANYTHING from any store that sells assault weapons ANYWHERE in the country."

Re: GUN CONTROL,. WHAT WILL THE NEW PROPOSED LAWS BE?

man. It all makes sense too.

Well, the ignorant masses are cheering for it to happen.

yeah, they can't take our guns. That would never work and they know that. But they have the power to tax them. And the pen is mightier than the sword. If you have to pay $500 a year to own an AR and you have 3 of them you're going to sell one back for $200. If you have a hundred gun collection, you're screwed. Failure to pay the lisencing is a felony. Then guess what....they come and get your guns and throw you in jail for 10 years.

who would uphold this unconstitutional law? The US Supreme court will and the public will be cheering them on the whole way to socialism.

here's one my friend told me....have you noticed the popularity of .22 lr clones? How companies have made .22lr copies of higher power guns? Have you noticed the only affordable ammo is .22lr anymore. That is because the .22lr will have the lowest taxes levied against it. So gun companies have been making cheap .22lr rifles that look like their big brothers. Then, when you have to give up your guns because you can't afford them, you will be left with a few mean looking but pretty worthless rifles.. This is all preplanned for years, they were just waiting for obamas 2nd term.

Re: GUN CONTROL,. WHAT WILL THE NEW PROPOSED LAWS BE?
I'm going to post this here once. I could start my own thread but I got lambasted by gunowners for suggesting an alternative to losing our guns the other day, so those who happen across it, good for you.

about 6 years ago I started working at a large machine shop. This shop had many CNC mills, lathes and machining centers.. About 4 years ago a large gun manufacturer came needing help in keeping up with demand. Many of the components we made were for AR rifles. Mostly trigger components, picatinny rails and such. No lower or upper receivers.

during this time I worked closely with the son of the current president of the company. He is a mechanical engineer, as am I. He came by often for quality control inspections and even helped programming of the machines. We are the same age. Anyway, we hit it off and he invited me to the headquartes several times where he showed me new products and we talked about guns. We ended up, over the past years becoming good friends.

recently we were bowling together and talk turned to Obama and gun sales, which I know are through the roof. I asked him about the future of his family company and when he'd be talking the helm.. He said that "there will be no company to inherit."

he then proceeded to tell me this: about 2 years ago Obama had a closed door session with all of the heads of the gun companies in the US. He gave them an ultimatum. They had 2 to 3 years to make as much money as possible, after that their sales strategies were going to go through a major shift. Manufacturing would shift from semi-auto rifles to single shot hunting rifles. This would drive many of them out of business.

some asked how he planned on doing this, and he said that it will happen. He suggested that the 2nd amendment applies to the national guard only and was never truly meant for the average citizen.. He said there would be new taxes levied on gun owners, making gun ownership very expensive. Yearly registrations, and liscensing was possible.

he then proceeded to explain that most gun sales are to repeat buyers. That many AR sales are by people who own 15 to 20 of these style rifles and that many are being bought on credit. That these people don't have the financial means to afford these firearms but are going into deep debt to buy them.. These people are mentally I'll and this addiction is similar to a drug or porn addiction.

this is my recap of what my friend told me. Now here's why I post this now. I just read that cerberus is selling off Freedom Group. If you don't know what that means, Freedom Group is the largest gun manufacturing company in the US right now.. Yearly sales approach 1 billion dollars! And they're selling!

my friend said that one CEO asked how they think they could pull this off and the response was that public opinion was changing and would continue to change.

I own several "assault" weapons. Sadly, this is it

okay, I posted the above on another thread this morning. I'm back and talked to my buddy.. Then I see that a bunch of stores have already stopped selling guns! This is moving really fast.

the plan is to start by implementing outrageous taxes on guns. These taxes will then be used to provide the funds for buyback programs all across the US. After these taxes, they are going to start having yearly registrations. Gun owners will need to get a liscense to own a gun. Each gun will be required to be registered and taxed. These taxes will be based on each gun, a .22 will be less than a .223. A shotgun will be less than a 9mm.

gun manufacturers have been told to begin shifting from semi-auto firearms to single shot firearms.. Internal magazines holding no more than 5 rounds, requiring manual reloading and more safeties, making it harder to shoot.

they cannot take away our guns so they will make them so expensive we can't afford them, just like cigarettes. Then they will legislate them into crap.

What your post requires to be credible is a financial and legal force outside of and superior to US comapnies and government with the means to both bankrupt companies and dictate law. This is only plausible in a post constitutional republic America whose future is already being dictated by non-elected people who don't answer to any law.

Sadly, that is exactly where we are headed if we aren't there already. I want to call BS and claim you are just another idiot on a crazy conspiracy forum, but the dollar is insolvent and weeks to months away from meltdown, the constitution is in shreds on the supreme court floor, and the majority of the voting public just decided that was all A-OK.

Not saying I believe all that will happen. What you describe would have been a B-movie plot just a few years ago. That distopic fiction is looking a lot more plausible every day now.

They did it to the cigarette companies and are in the process of doing it to......sodas?

cigarettes are still legal, but they cost a fortune because of...You guessed it, taxes,...and you can't smoke them in your own house if you have kids in some areas.

it's all about interpretation of the law, and the supreme court interprets the law.

how is this different than saying you need a license to hunt or to fish or to drive?

they will levy taxes on guns in order to control them. Remember, the pen is mightier than the sword.

The difference is that this is the last line of defense left for true freedom. All of the other hurdles that tyranny has jumped over can be tolerated and rationalized away by sleepy sheep. When you take away a man's right to self defense from tyranny, you make him a subject, a prisoner, and a slave.

If you don't see that you have already been herded into the padded room of government caretaking. Sorry, but that is the reality of the situation. The second ammendment was the teeth behind the 1st, and the 4th, and the 10th, and all the rest. When it is gone, none else stand in the face of absolute tyranny.

We are so weak compared to what we once were. Our founding fathers would be ashamed.

RESISTER, I agree with you, but as my friend told me, obama interprets the 2nd amendment differently. He told them it is meant for the national guard, not the average citizen.

the question is, would the supreme court side with the people or the govt?

No, nothing will be fixed. I think we will go back to the assault rifle ban and smaller capacity mags......I live in California, that's how it's been here for a while now.

read earlier where california is talking of licensing for you to buy ammo card cost $50 a year.

The proposals seek to tighten California's assault weapons ban and restrict ammunition sales.

Obama's "interpretation" is flat wrong as is just about everything that constitution defying Marxist does.

I wouldn't trust the Supreme Court as far as I could throw the building they work in after Judas Roberts led them in putting their stamp of approval on Obamacare this summer. In recent cases SCOTUS only upheld both the 1st and 2nd ammmendments by 5/4 votes. A margin of only 1 vote in the Washington DC and Chicago cases against the strictest gun laws in the nation.

We may be dangerously close to put up or shut up time.
