Problem being a lack of Dopamine. L-Tyrosine is a precurser for an amino acid that stimulates Dopamine production. 500 mg a day. I just started taking it and can say at least I sleep better. I actually have Narcolepsy which is treated the same as ADHD, believe it or not, cause by same lack of Dopamine. I seem ADHD but have a couple of more symptoms which tips the scale. |

Quoting: LisaDiane My children are now in thier 20s, and I am in my 50s. It was a strugle to get off these meds, but did so by taking a mushroom extract called Ganoderma. Only one of my children is still on prescription drugs, and she is 25. I would also suggest taking iodine, limiting sugars, and completely getting off all artifical sweetners. I have a good source for Ganoderma that is four times as effective as what you may find in health food stores. If interested, email me at [email protected] Does Ganoderma treat ADD or just help one get off of meds? |

It helped me successfully get off ADD medications and anti-depressents which I had been on for years. it is very effective for the brain, and helps with memory and focus. It has also been very effective in children with autism, helping them speak. LisaDiane |

flavapor User ID: 964647 United States 12/20/2012 10:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | yup, caffeine! It has the opposite effect on ADHD. Is this for a child or adult? I had alot of experience with my son going thru this since second grade, he is now 22. Quoting: flavapor I found exercises for test taking that boosted his grades from F's to As and Bs literally overnight. It would drive me nuts that we would study for a test, he would get all the answers right, then bomb on the test the next day. The excersises we did worked the very first time we did them so we kept doing them all thru school yrs. Its for myself (21yrs) and my daughter which is 17 months. Dont wanna put her under meds from a dr. nor do I want take meds from a dr. For you, try drinking coffee or tea, or taking a caffiene supplement. Avoid the sugars and carbs so dont drink sodas. As for the excersises, I got them from a book that I cant remember the name of but it was written in the 70's or 80's by a guy who was an educator of ADHD children. He said that most with adhd have an astonishing, almost photographic memory. So... for spelling tests he suggested writing the words on index cards and using colored ink to separate the syllables. He said hold the card for 10 seconds then go to the next. At that time my son had 20 words. At the end of the 20 index cards he had to spell each word forwards and backwards for me and got each one right, every time, even backwards. This guy said that the different colors triggered the brain into remembering what it knew. We used this formula all sorts of ways all thru school as he got older and needed to know algebra formulas, etc. My son used to say that the clock ticking on the walls in the classrooms sounded overpowering to him and THAT seemed to be what his mind focused on when the teacher was lecturing. Most of us cant even hear that ticking. Another thing is that you need to find out your learning style, there are 7 I believe, ( listening, seeing, kinectic, etc..and incorporate that into your daily life. If you need to be shown rather than told how to do things at work, you just may need to come home and google it on youtube or something to gain a better understanding, or if your workplace is one you feel comfortable asking for them to show you how than just ask. Try to apply the "photographic" memory aspect into your daily life also. Look at things with a purpose, store them in the back of your mind, and retrieve them as needed. I am sure there are many books out there on the subject, hit the library and spend an hour or two breezing thru the books and check out the ones that you feel apply to you and ways you can help yourself. I have found that most adhd people I know are very artistic in one way or another, my mom has it and she makes jewelry to calm herself. She says it makes her focus only on what she is doing, yet her mind wanders and she comes up with great ideas and solutions to issues while working on the jewelry. She has been doing this for several years and has made it into a business. As for your daughter, try to find out her learning style now while she is young. That way when she starts to learn in school she wont get behind. Change things up to suit her interests such as: If Bobby has 10 apples and give 2 to Ann how many apples does he have left. That can be converted into If Barbie has 10 parties to go to and she takes Ken to 2 of them, how many parties did Barbie go to alone. We also used to make our own books, kind of like a "mad libs", we would make up a story and insert people we knew into the story and than my son would draw pictures and color them for each page. I took them to office max and had them made into spiral books, they only charge about 2 bucks to do a 10 or 12 pg book, or just staple the pages to make your own books. Sometimes we would use a picture to make up a story to go with it. We would then have to find another picture to add to the story. That supported a focused effort to a foundation in researching things later in life. Do your own research and find books that are helpful to you and your daughter. ADHD is the brain preferring to go into a theta like state when it should be listening and learning, maybe you can use that to your advantage to meditate and find the answers to overcome the challenge. I know alot of people have used neurofeedback to train the brain not to go into the theta state and it has worked also, so its a matter of finding what is best for you. I am not a hippie trying to tell you to meditate, but I do believe that the power of positive thinking and manifestation does work, it doesnt cost anything, so why not try it. Find your passion and your daughters passion and run with it! Incorporate it into every day situations to use it as a learning technique. Hope that helps, and I am glad you are trying to stay off the meds. I wouldnt put my kid on it unless all other avenues were exhausted. Dr's are to quick to throw a pill at problems these days. If you think about it, before we had adhd drugs were there no adhd kids? Of course, diet plays a big part in that I am sure, but still, they say Einstein had adhd and was kicked out of school. So.. obviously once left to his own learning style, he excelled in spades! One more thing, when your daughter does go to school if she has problems, get an advocate! Not a school appointed one, you can ask the special ed teacher at your school or contact the learning centers in your area and find out which independent ones are available and use them. They will charge you a few hundred bucks to go set up a meeting with the school admin and your childs teachers, but they will also meet with your child, assess the issues and incorporate a specialized plan tailored to your childs learning style and needs in order for her to have success in school. I met with the school on my own several times and got mimimal help from them. Once I got an advocate, I swear, just mentioning her name had them caving in to us before the meeting ever got started. They took her advice for every single suggestion! Those suggestions helped my son getting thru HS and the more challenging courses that come later in life. Good luck to you |
