Asteroid Collision Dec 23rd?
Boy wouldn't that catch us off guard if those VERY LARGE near-earth asteroids of the 23rd smash into each other and send fragments all over the place?

spaceweather.com

Could anyone confirm that this is NOT a possibility so we can all sleep better..?
Best Wishes,
Uncle Alyosha

And here's a GLP-appropriate Bible verse (atheists may read, too):

According to Spaceweather.com on December 23rd 2 asteroids will pass earth 60 - 70 LD's from earth...LD = Lunar Distance

that is a VERY FAR WAY AWAY from Earth....

AND...one of them is 1.8 km and the other is 1.1 km in size...THAT IS REALLY SMALL!

BUT.....

..... on Feb. 15th Asteroid "2012 DA14" will come .09 LD's from Earth.....THAT IS VERY, VERY CLOSE

and it is 57 M in size....that is fucking HUGE!!!!!!

Here is a scree capture from spaceweather.com with that information:

The chances of that are about the same as us standing 5 miles apart, and shooting a rifle into the air in any direction, not knowing where the other person is at, and the bullets hitting each other, then the bullets falling and still doing damage. I think this is the last of our worries! peace

1.8 km is about a mile, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Regardless, as you've just said, it's too far away to even be bothered about.

An asteroid will hit any day from now. I'm almost sure of it being before the new year. 23rd sounds about right. Enjoy!

Re: Asteroid Collision Dec 23rd?
Yes, those big asteroids on the 23rd ARE far away from us, but perhaps not far from each other, and I said what if they crash into each other. Then you'd have chunks flying in all directions and Earth would get pelted. Just throwin' that idea around...for our daily dose of doom, or what have you...
Best Wishes,
