Quoting: Uncle Alyosha spaceweather.com Could anyone confirm that this is NOT a possibility so we can all sleep better..? I just checked it too, about a week ago there were NONE for the rest of December, but now there are FOUR!!!!This is the one I am curious about: 2012XM55 .0081 AU on December 24th???? Quoting: Uncle Alyosha spaceweather.com Could anyone confirm that this is NOT a possibility so we can all sleep better..? According to Spaceweather.com on December 23rd 2 asteroids will pass earth 60 - 70 LD's from earth...LD = Lunar Distance that is a VERY FAR WAY AWAY from Earth.... AND...one of them is 1.8 km and the other is 1.1 km in size...THAT IS REALLY SMALL! BUT..... ..... on Feb. 15th Asteroid "2012 DA14" will come .09 LD's from Earth.....THAT IS VERY, VERY CLOSE and it is 57 M in size....that is fucking HUGE!!!!!! Here is a scree capture from spaceweather.com with that information: [link to i47.tinypic.com] |

I think this is the last of our worries! |

Regardless, as you've just said, it's too far away to even be bothered about. |

| Uncle Alyosha (OP) User ID: 30250870 12/18/2012 03:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes, those big asteroids on the 23rd ARE far away from us, but perhaps not far from each other, and I said what if they crash into each other. Then you'd have chunks flying in all directions and Earth would get pelted. Just throwin' that idea around...for our daily dose of doom, or what have you... Best Wishes, Uncle Alyosha And here's a GLP-appropriate Bible verse (atheists may read, too): God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong. - 1 Corinthians 1:27 |
