Would you give up your rights to a GUN if
Would you give up your rights to a GUN if you knew for certain that it would have saved those 20 Sandy Hook elementary school children?

If we could go back in time - and change the future - the only condition is: GIVE UP YOUR RIGHTS TO GUNS.

Would you do it?

I say: No, no I wouldn't. And that would be a painful decision.

I agree, their are lots of things that could be done , but writing down another useless law that no criminal will abide by is the least likely thing to help.

The only way I'm ever going to give up my guns is if there are no other guns on the planet, and that will never happen in my lifetime.

If I was the Duke of New York - A #1 because I'd have people all around me with guns, crossbows, baseball bats with nails embedded in them, etc.

the battle is against inhumanity, lack of empathy and mental illness

as long as there are humans who are incapable of feeling pain or compassion for those who are helpless, there will be horrible crimes, whether commited with a gun or a machete

Look up what happened in Africa in the 1990s, when the Hutus and Tutsis used machetes to chop the feet and hands off thousands of people and slaughter thousands more

My mothers family is in Brazil, has been for a few hundred years. When they banned guns in Brazil they even demanded the historic old muskets that a cousin had mounted on his wall as decor

Yet Rio de Janaeiro and Sao Paulo have more gun deaths than most battle grounds, rivaling Iraq for gun deaths

All they have managed to do is ensure that home owners have zero protection against home invasions, which are quite common and usually violent

and in Brazil you can't even count on the police coming to protect you, as often they are paid off by the big drug lords and might possibly do nothing at all to help you if murderous thugs climb over your walls, get through the bars on your windows and come for your assets

Big success, eh?

I believe in God, but I also know that God helps those who helps themselves. Disarming the good and the law abiding will not ensure that soulless inhuman thugs won't strike again

Re: Would you give up your rights to a GUN if
Nope, more children die from hunger and cancer everyday than by guns, 20 children being killed by a gun and all of a sudden "let's talk about gun control" how about we focus on curable diseases like childhood cancer? Oh, but wait big pharma makes so much money off cancer treatment. :(

it depends on the state and I cannot say this more emphatically

I saw this coming a while back, and relocated accordingly

fwiw, I lived in Newtown CT for over 10 years. I know people who have been affected by this crime, who lost friends and co-workers. We were expecting a child in 2005, and had our house not sold in 06, that might have been one of my children in that school, so I have stayed up nights thinking about this turn of events

Before this no one ever knew where Newtown was - they thought it was "Newton", so I used to say "Danbury" to try and make it easier.

It has felt, for a few years now, as if a storm cloud is gathering and one has to choose a side

As of 2009 I have chosen to live in Texas.

SO give up my guns to save the 20 kids and then leave my family defenseless against any thug that deems what is mine should be theirs. Are you serious? This isn't even a painful question. No agony here, I will keep my guns with a clear mind. This is common sense.
