I agree with you, but I know the thought pattern because I have spent much of my life in the northeast amongst artists and graduates of those universities... it is wishful thinking and it leads to tragedy over and over just like the people who get a poisonous snake, tiger cub or a chimpanzee as a pet and then act surprised when the snake kills their child, the tiger mauls them or the chimpanzee rips their face off |

Given any breakdown in the rule of law, any rise in insanity due to financial stress or shortages, I can only think violent outbreaks will increase...just at a time that the local police may be cut or overburdened Wasn't there just a California city - I think San Bernadino - which told the locals basically they are their own first line of defense now because the city is bankrupt and the police force is being cut? What then, protect yourself with a slingshot or a box cutter? |

What OP is getting at is that hypothetically if you COULD stop those 20 kids from dying by going back in time & laying down your arms, would you? The answer is supposed to be "YES", because anything to the contrary implies that you wouldn't trade a gun for the lives of 20 beautiful children who had a future. Think about it that way.
