I really am starting for feel bad for Menow.

If you lived at the equator, the sunrise/sunset deviation would be 23.5 degrees. The farther you get from the equator, the greater the deviation. I live at a latitude of 30 degrees. Using the equation on the page I quoted from, we see that at my location the deviation is 27.1 degrees.

23.5/cos(30) = 27.1

That means the Sun will set 27.1 degrees south of due west for me on on Dec 21st, for a total shift of 54.2 degrees over a year.

Rome, Italy is at 41 degrees latitude. 23.5/cos(41) = 31.1 degrees deviation, with a total shift of 62.2 degrees over a year.
