easy to do with the right software and hardware.

It's really not that hard, it's all about time!

Set camera up on a special head, punch in the settings etc, hit go, wait till it's finished then let your computer do the work.

Hell you can even do large ones manually if you are patient. I have manual panoramas taken with 66 photos all joined together.

Too bad, most of us will never get to see it in person !

Besides the astronomical costs of an expedition to Everest, you have to be a top climber in extremely good physical and mental shape to make it to the top of that mountain !

I saw a really cool cave to the left side of the frame. Looks like it could be inhabited by the way the rocks are laying in the entrance, which is behind the overhang, so the rocks could not have fallen there. Yetti's house?

My camera does kinda the same thing in low light. It takes a series of high speed frames, assembles them in the camera, and gives a very good, shake free image, without a tripod. But it is no way as clear as this.

This is how gigapanning is done.

It uses a 'normal' (top notch, though) DSLR mounted on sort of a robotic tripod steered by a special software. It moves around and takes one shot after another, then everything is edited to one giant photograph.

"With an eye made quiet by the power of harmony and the deep power of joy, we see into the life of things." William Wordsworth

And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.

John F. Kennedy Inaugural Address

Lincoln's economic advisor Henry C. Carey explained the universal issue in his 1851 Harmony of Interests:

"Two systems are before the world.... One looks to pauperism, ignorance, depopulation, and barbarism; the other to increasing wealth, comfort, intelligence, combination of action, and civilization. One looks towards universal war; the other towards universal peace. One is the English system; the other ... the American system, for ... elevating while equalizing the condition of man throughout the world."

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." - Albert Einstein

Check this out, I liked this site on Facebook, and today they are talking about how thier servers went down due to high usage. The GLP affect at its finest.

From Glacier Works home page on Facebook

Apparently, we're TRYING to crash our servers... (again...)

Cool, I have a camera just like it, the Sony A77, which shoots at 12FPS, the highest Frame per second in DSLR's. Now all I need is the software, and Yosemite here I come (an hour an a half away)

I tend to agree, not because its my post (pins don't get me too excited), but because its so incredible, more people should experience this. Imagine where digital photography will be in 20 years, with wall sized flat screens. You can go anywhere in the world, and not leave your living room.

Here's a cool one in the back country of Yosemite. I want to shoot one from Glacier point. I'm buying a unit, this is too cool. Just got an 8core I7 Sony laptop with 8 gigs of ram a month ago on Craigslist, which should handle this software just fine.

Spectacular OP!

You know the Nepali Government took in $180 million dollars from foreign climbers last spring. $25,000 a pop. Crowded danger zones causing more accidents. You gotta be pretty fearless to go for that climb.

Such a beautiful planet.

To see how really clear this is, once in Panorama view, click on the + tab at the bottom and zoom in, incredible. I have a 25 megapixel Sony camera, which is very clear, and considered a very high pixel count for digital cameras, but this image is crazy clear. I want to see more, but can't find but this one.
